Thoughts? I thought it was near flawless. That last note seemed to be tough for her.
She messed up the lyrics. It seems she left a verse out but something was wrong. The vocal arrangement was awful.
Near flawless...if you don't count the lyrics that she left out.
I'm pretty sure she left out..."O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming"
She forgot the lyrics, particularly "O'er the ramparts we watched..."
Hideous.
She screwed up the words, and screeched.
I knew she messed it up. I was singing along in my head and all of a sudden I was confused!
I might be biased because Im a fan. On another note, anyone heard the rumors of her joining the X-Factor?
You can be a fan and still admit she did a horrible job. That song's not for everyone.

Painful. If only she sang it in counterpoint with the touring cast of HAIR doing "Flesh Failures."
"Facing a dying nation" would have been PERFECT underscoring for her hideous screech on BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE. Did Fox encourage her to turn into a "Let's get ready to rummmmmmmbllllllllllle!" as opposed to what the song is about and supposedly for?

Overrated, washed-up and embarrassing. Sing the song as written, skank, or don't sing it at all (if that's what you want to call it).

Even without the messed up lyrics - it was a riffing train wreck.
Well, in regards to her current state and career she can only go up right? Shall we start that "What Christina needs to do to have a comeback" talk in this thread?

Honey, you might want to take the Christina "what ifs" and "x-factor" to the fangurl page.

Maybe she could make a movie. With Cher.
Nevermind.
ucj, for me that started when "Burlesque" came out.
...as I wrote on Facebook: I needed earplugs.
The messed up lyrics were the least of it.
In fact, it was offensive.
Roseanne did it better.
LOL!
I was picking up a pizza so I missed it. From the comments here, I'm not sorry.
Stockard, just click on any of the links posted here or on any number of news websites. You'll see it. I read that twitter went crazy after she was done.

I clicked the link in the thread. I don't actually watch that stuff as it happens. But to me it seems sort of perfect with the bellowing nationalistic fervor of the Fox network and its announcer (what did he say before Lea's much more listenable performance, "In celebration of our beautiful country"? seriously?) that, much like the state of our nation, it was lost, out of tune, screechy and somewhat befuddled.
Fox did that whole Americana thing before in their previous Super Bowl broadcast and it was insufferable then. I swear that opening was directed by Michael Bay.
