re: Chuck

no more Ana Wu... so sad... hopefully he makes a guest appearance... and i was really shocked at how they got rid of Emmett!!! harsh!
#52

re: Chuck

There won't be any Anna for at least the first 13 episodes. She and Emmett were victims of budget cuts. That's why there was no Buy More in last week's episode, as well, but that was covered up very well. At least NBC is now so pathetic that Chuck's not-quite-good numbers look...well, awesome.

re: Chuck

OMG YaY New Chuck tonight!

re: Chuck

thought i'd bump up this thread... tonight's episode was AMAZINGLY AWESOME!! this show is just on fire now! the return of Jeffster, some awesome comedic moments, and a huge push forward in the shows mythology... come on people... jump on the CHUCK train!!!

re: Chuck

I agree with you eatlasagna! The past couple of episodes have been total snoozes but tonight's episode was great. Same great Chuck.

I really really hope they kill off the character of Shaw soon though. I CAN NOT STAND HIM. Plus the whole Ring storyline is getting boring.

The storyline this season would be so different if they had Chuck gain the abilities he flashes on permanently rather than temporarily. I think they should have gone that way.

re: Chuck

Chuck got renewed for Season 4!!!! WOOO HOOO!!!

re: Chuck

It did? I can't believe it! I am so happy!

re: Chuck

I always feel like this show is hanging on by a thread. I wouldn't be surprised if season four was canceled midway. This current season has been weak as hell. Hard to top the first two. I'm looking forward to seeing the Ellie storyline though.

re: Chuck

Rumor is that the initial order will be for 13 episodes, with the possibility of a back 9. Just like this season, except they ended up only getting a back 6.

Chuck is...always borderline in its ratings. It's never been great, but it's not a clear dud, either, especially given the killer timeslot it's in. (House, How I Met Your Mother, and Dancing With the Stars all air at the same time.) And it's been NBC's strongest Monday night show - let's face it, that network's ratings standards can't be all that high right now.

I wouldn't call this season "weak as hell", but it's definitely not been as strong as the first two. I blame Shaw for pretty much everything. :P Seriously, though, that character failed so hard and spread his fail to Sarah and all the spy plots. The best episodes of the season came either when he wasn't around - "Angel de la Muerte", "Tic Tac" - or when he was largely absent, as in "Beard".

Even when I felt I understood what they were doing with him as a character, those things were just so loathsome I could barely stand to look at him. His utterly sleazy moves on Sarah in "Mask", his creepy violent tendencies in "Fake Name", his overeagerness to blow Chuck up in "Beard" - those moments made it easy to believe that he could turn like he did, but gah, they also made him a total pain to watch and a complete dud as an alternate love interest for Sarah. Bryce and Cole were both waaaaay better on the latter end.

So basically, what I'm saying is that he'd better not be alive, dammit, because the show is better off without him. And I don't need another insult on top of the totally shoddy treatment they just gave my beloved Anna Wu.

Ellie's storyline does look kick-ass, though, doesn't it? She's always been underutilized, but it's been especially blatant this season, and I'm just so glad that the menfolks' collective decision to protect poor little Ellie (who could kick all their asses) from Chuck's secret is going to bite them in the ass.

re: Chuck

Like Plum said, this show has been on the brink since day one, so I'm just glad that another season has been squeezed out of it.

I wonder if I'm in the minority, but I really feel okay with the fact that Chuck and Sarah are together together now. I feel like the show has earned it, you know?

Also, did anyone catch in the episode where they were in the hotel and there were snipers -- I don't remember the name and I'm too lazy to look it up? Anyway, Sarah tells Shaw that her real name is Sam and in season two she had told Chuck it was Jenny. Ostensibly, it IS Jenny because of that whole backstory flashback, but shows have been known to contract their backstories before, so unless I missed something, they've yet to explain the discrepancy. Was she lying to Shaw or Chuck? And why?
#62

re: Chuck

Jenny was not her real name... that was also a fake name she used in high school

Sam Lisa is her first and middle name....

I really hope Ellie learns Chuck's secret.. I think it's about time she knew... her and Chuck have a great relationship and I would love to see how her knowing the truth would make her deal with it...

and yeah... I was pretty upset with how they brought back Anna Wu... it was pretty lame and forced... although Morgan's slow mo walk was HILARIOUS!
#63

re: Chuck

How did I miss that? Did they tell us Jenny was a fake name in that flashback episode? Why did she lie to Chuck? Did Chuck name her name was Sam? Did I miss an episode? Could I ask any more questions?

re: Chuck

The thing with "Jenny Burton" was explained in the Sarah's last flashback in "Versus the Cougars". When Graham is recruiting "Jenny" for the CIA, he lists off that name as well as a bunch of other aliases she used in different locations as she lived on the run with her dad. Sarah interrupted him before he could get to her birth name.

Sarah never told Chuck that Jenny was her real name. He was just listening in when her old classmate called her "Jenny" and assumed that that was her real name. Sarah just let him continue assuming that - though I assume that once Chuck met Sarah's dad, it became clear that the assumption was a false one.

Phyllis, every fan I know is just plain relieved that the show put Chuck and Sarah together instead of extending the will-they-won't-they nonsense. They make a cute couple and the show isn't suffering for it. I just want them to actually do a mission with Casey again as a team. It's been ages.

ETA: Here's Graham's little speech to the teenaged Sarah in "Cougars":

"The question is, who are you? In San Diego you go by Jenny Burton, in Wisconsin it's Katie O'Connell, Cleveland it's Rebbecca Frenkel. Funny thing is, when I looked at your birth certificate..."

Then he got interrupted by Sarah.

re: Chuck

Thanks for explaining that out. I don't know how I missed all that information. I actually have the first two seasons on dvd. I should do a rewatch this summer.

re: Chuck

As I was reading Plum's previous post, I realized that I could barely remember the episodes this season. I had to go through the episodes synopsis on IMDB. I recently re-watched season two on dvd, and though kinda flawed, it was insanely entertaining. Compared to this current season, it was a whole different level. Don't get me wrong though..Chuck is still my #1 show.

I agree that Shaw was a complete failure. He left a bad taste in my mouth.

I'm glad they got together but it gets soooooo cheesy sometimes. Like, all of a sudden Sarah was okay with Chuck killing somebody because Shaw would have killed her. I get that, but she made such a big deal about how Chuck would change completely after he shot someone..yet after he saves her life, she immediately jumps into bed with him.

I also don't find Morgan that funny anymore. Ditto on bringing Anna Wu back.

re: Chuck

I enjoyed this season, but I do have to say that I just felt like with the way it ended last season, it was setting us up for a very different third season than the one we actually got.

re: Chuck

what I like about the writers is that they are completely building a show with a focus... yes there are times we get frustrated and some episodes aren't that great (but what show ISN'T like that, right?)... but they know what they are doing and they are moving everything a nice pace... Chuck had the intersect for two seasons (one and a half really) and then had a new intersect now... he got together with Sarah and instead of making them awkward as a couple they made this this Mr. and Mrs. Smith type spy couple in the making... I just feel like they are so focused on telling good stories with great characters... this is definitely one of those shows where NBC better not cancel it midway through... this show definitely needs closure and needs an end date like LOST...

re: Chuck

OK tonight's Chuck was great!! I can not wait until this whole Ellie thing unravels.

re: Chuck

I really, really hate it that Shaw is alive. HATE HIM. But if it gets him re-killed, preferably in some humiliating manner and by Sarah, so be it.

BTW, how badass was Sarah this week? Interrogating Morgan, tracking Orion, then finishing up with the axe-toss. I was making faces like Morgan falling in love with Awesome. (Which was also a great scene. Hee.)

Finally, if anyone cares about this sort of thing I found NBC's promo for the finale to be a bit over-spoilery for my taste. You might want to avoid seeing it if you want to be surprised by certain developments.
#72

re: Chuck

the only reason I like that Shaw is alive is because it kind of gives Chuck a nemesis as a spy... but I do hope he gets killed! ha

Morgan always cracks me up with his expressions...

and I loved how Lester was says... i'm taking the "ster" in Jeffster.. haha..
#73

re: Chuck

I wonder if someone else is going to be playing Shaw. It clearly wasn't him in that last scene.

What a crazy episode. Loved it. I think it was one of the best, if not the best, of the season.
#74

re: Chuck

well.. i don't know if you saw the preview for next week's finale... but Brandon Routh is in it... that's all i'm going to say because the preview showed WAAAAAY too much info... i'm not upset about it but i know a lot of people are...

re: Chuck

Oh, okay. I try to avoid previews. Thanks for not saying anything more!
