well.. i don't know if you saw the preview for next week's finale... but Brandon Routh is in it... that's all i'm going to say because the preview showed WAAAAAY too much info... i'm not upset about it but i know a lot of people are...
Again, I agree with eatlasagna - the promo gives away at least one big surprise I'd have preferred not to know in advance.
I kind of want Sarah to kill Shaw this time, since I hated the way she was literally paralyzed into inaction in "Other Guy" so Chuck could rescue her. Shaw sucked the life out of Sarah for a good chunk of this season - that had better not be the case next week.
i thought the episode was excellent... the writers/creators are just so good at creating new plot devices to keep the show going instead of being the same thing... so Chuck quit the spy business but is now realizing that his family was part of a secret spy family who worked on their own? AWESOME! now we get to meet mother Bartowski!
Shaw's still alive, isn't he? Dammit. I was totally yelling at Sarah to cut his head off because it's the only way to be sure.
OTOH, when I didn't have to think about Shaw, the finale was strewn with a bunch of little delights, like Jeff having a gross line for the ages by saying that Ellie is his dream come true because "she's like Chuck, but with lady parts". There was Morgan claiming to be a lapsed vegetarian, Casey attempting to make his facial muscles do that "smiling" thing at the end of the episode, Awesome and Morgan pressing buttons they shouldn't, Lester stroking his guitar like a total perv...good times.
I have to say, though - Chuck's videoconferencing triumph was way more satisfying for me than the Intersect on Intersect fight there at the end. I mean, if Chuck is just physiologically better at handling the Intersect than anyone else, so what? That's genetics and luck. The way he neatly discredited Shaw and beheaded the Ring in one move was actually, you know, him.
Which is why I'm happy that Fedak said that while this season's superheroic theme was Superman, next year's will be Batman. Which will hopefully mean an emphasis on skills, planning, and gadgets over just being gifted with superpowers. Batman always was the cooler hero. :P
They saved the best for last. Amazing amazing episodes, almost as good as last season's finale.
I was jumping and screaming when Ellie comes out of that guy's office and sees Chuck. I didn't think she was going to find out this season, so that made it even better. Loved it.
Intersect vs Intersect fight was just okay to me too. It ended a little too easily for me. I too, wished that Sarah should have killed Shaw, but then again, since he's alive, he'd be sentenced for life, so that would work out better for Chuck. Death would be less revengeful.
I still can't believe there's gonna be a fourth season.
Also, maybe Chuck and Sarah could be Subway franchisees for their cover. Maybe that would make Subway give them enough money to come back for a fifth season.
I don't think a fifth season is happening unless all of NBC's new shows fail. And maybe not even then. But hey, it's kind of a miracle we've even made it this far.
I think for a show that has come this far with not so great ratings (but with wonderful critical and fan response) the writers need to think about a series finale for this fourth season... i just hope NBC lets them end up on their own rather than saying you're canceled... but we all know that's more than likely gonna happen!
