I'm looking forward to it, and will be rooting for my hometown's choir, led by Patti LaBelle.

I can't wait either! And I'm an ex Philly Choir Boy, so I am double excited. GO PATTI!

Anyone watching? What do you think so far? I thought they were going to sing Christmas songs. It is a little annoying how so far each choir has highlighted a sob story. I am not trying to be mean, I think great they get to participate in the choir; it's a great opportunity, but it comes across like they are getting used as a sad ploy to get votes. The girl in the Houston choir that was a Huricane katrina victim's audition piece thye highlighted wasn't that good. I wish they would simply perform and let it be based purely on the talent alone. I guess I shouldn't be suprised none of these talent contests are ever strictly based on talent alone. It shall be interesting to see if the winning choir is the most talented or has the biggest celebrity.

Turned the channel after twenty minutes as it was more about the sacchrin sweet stories as opposed to singing. How the father (from the father and daughter duo) got in for his singing ability is beyond me. Oh that's right, they're going through a hard time, so it makes for good television. No thanks.

I agree with Sesot, it is pretty annoying how they keep featuring sob stories, especially when they people they feature are not very good. The drama of breaking groups up, like the barber shop quartet and the brothers, is annoying as well.

As far as the choirs go, Patti's was, of course, the best. She at least actually chose a choral number for them to do. I enjoyed Kelly Rowland's and the country music guys. Michael Bolton's was the worst. Poor song choice, and then it wasn't even really a choir, but a solo with a huge group of back-up singers.

Yeah, I have to agree with all of you about the sappy stories. I just wanted to hear the choirs sing- not listen to the stories. I LOOVED Patti's- they at least chose a true gospel song and they sounded and moved great. I can't stand Michael Bolton. Totally agree that it was a solo song with a bunch of backup singers. I also hated the way they kept cramming the military guys down our throats. I am so annoyed when the votes are based on the stories and not the talent. Patti was so funny though! However, what a thrill it must have been for those "ordinary people" to sing in front of one of the most gifted singers of our time. There was so much joy in her group. mom

I completely agree, Michael Bolton's group was by far the worst. What was he thinking picking that song. It just didn't work. People were off key several times in that number. The way he organized the group- singer with back up it was more obvius when folks were off key. I hope his group gets the boot. Good news is he didn't really have a sappy story for his group. All the groups have their work cut out for them to have any hope of remotely competing at the level of Patti's group. her group really was the only traditional style choir. I think Kelly's and the country singer's group were the next best.

Yeah, I also hope the votes aren't based on the popularity of the celebrities. I hope the public votes for the best choir- but you know that won't happen.

Mom, I can't believe you watched the whole thing!! I didn't have any patience for this show and I was really excited when I heard the premise and promos on television.

I can't believe I watched the whole thing either. There wasn't anything else on tonight. I wasn't paying that close attention to it though. Just heard some of the sappy stories. I was more interested in the songs. I'm one of those who has to follow things through. For instance, I'm watching I Love NY right now because I have to know how it ends. I can't tell you how many times I have stayed up late to watch the end of a really stupid movie because I want to know how it ends- I know, pretty pathetic huh! mom

Haha, mom, I'm doing that right now. Ebbie, with Susan Lucci as the female Scrooge is on right now, and I won't miss a minute. It's hideous, but I love it, and have to watch the whole thing.

Mom, what could be even worse is staying up to watch the stupid movie and then falling asleep with only five minutes to go (thereby missing the ending)!! Believe me, that's happened before.

Dottie, there are so many times I will be up watching a movie in my family room and the next thing I know, it's morning and I'm still on that same couch! I, too, have missed many an ending so I feel your pain! mom

i've been encouraging people to vote for the cincinnati choir.. if they win, cincinnati children's hospital will get a big donation :)
i only caught a little bit of it last night... they showed a girl who was a katrina survivor... she completely butchered that song but they still let her in.

Totally excited! The show was hysterical. It reminded me of that Show Choir musical at Fringe this year.

It will be interesting to see how they try to sell each group tonight. Will there be more sob stories to get the sympathy vote or will it be more about the talent? Michael Bolton's choir has to go, they were by far the worst. I hope they all have better songs/arrangements tonight. I wonder if any of them made some last minute changes today in hopes of competing with Patti's choir

I hate the boo hoo stories too, and some of them are show choir at best.
PATTI wins hands down, again tonight. FIERCE.
They should do an entire hour with TEAM LABELLE

How did the worst choir from last night get to stay in the contest? I agree with singingbackup that these are like show choirs with cheesy choreography and all.

Wow! Patti's choir- WOOOOOW! I hated the Garth Brooks Friends in Low Places! How can you EVEN compare that to Patti's class act. I don't vote anymore on these shows because I'm not sure how legit the voting really is. If I did vote, I would vote for the best choir- not the charity or the sob stories. It's called Clash of the Choirs. All of the charities are deserving so I think the best performance should win. mom
