Sort of a local story, but Bob and Tom are nationwide so I thought this would be of interest to people. Also Howard Stern is being taken off the air if he doesn't conform to the new rules.
Big Brother IS watching you. F*CK Clear Channel.
Stern was dropped in 6 markets.
Who said tits didn't have power?!!

Howard Stern censored, what's next? HBO?
Sorry, I lost all respect for Stern when he played one of Selena's songs using gunshots in the background the day after her death. I'm not a Selena fan, but that was just horrible. I never understood why anyone listened to him.
I can't stand Stern either, but he was taken off the air because a CALLER used a racial slur. Howard promptly pulled the plug on the call and yet he is being targeted. I have a feeling they were just waiting for one incident to yank him.

Well then they better yank off the morning show DJs here because one morning a caller called in and said her boyfriend was "F^cking around" while was on air..
it is so dumb. mass hysteria i feel with everything now. a nipple flashes for a split second (and hardly anyone saw if it was not plastered on the net)AND Now the whole world is crazy with banning stuff it is unbelievable.

My favorite was when he pretended to call Lucille Ball who was in the hospital at the time...and he called her (of course it wasn’t really her) from the hospital and asked her questions...and they got someone to do a faultless later day Lucy voice….and she kept coughing and going whaaaaaaaaaa…one of the few times I ever heard Stern himself laugh out loud ..
The Lucy imitator kept screaming:
"Gary, Bring me my clutch purse"!
Now Stern is free to come to Broadway as "Aida"!
I think it's too bad. Poor young Mr. Powell is trying to get a name for himself.
I can't stand Stern either, but Clear Channel is a model of hypocrisy about their own "values." Self-editing only under pressure. Stern himself admitted that behind closed doors, they voiced no desire to loose him other than due to "political pressure." Remember, too, these were the people behind the Dixie Chicks boycott, among other right wing agendas. It reminds me of Fox News pundits like Sean Hannity preaching family values, as we cut to a promotion for on-camera boinking on "Temptation Island" on the same values-embracing network.
Our country has gone crazy and mass hysteris has been brought about by the simple flash of a nipple. That has to be the most powerful breast in the world.
I can understand the people who comaplin about that incident. I think they blowing it all out of proportion but, they feel they have a point in saying that they, their children, whomever, had no choice but to view it. It was unexpected and occurred at a time and place that one wouldn't expect to see it. But Howard Stern? Come on, almost everyone has heard of him and knows what his show is about. If you are sitting in your car tuned in to his show, you must know that you are going to be exposed to topics of sex as well as other topics you may find unsavory. So, what's the solution? DON'T LISTEN. Change the channel.
You have a right to complain when something is shoved in your face and you are forced tos ee or hear it but, if you are too stupid to turn the dial, you really can't say anything.
I personally do not like Stern's show. I have listened to it many times, have laughed at a lot of what goes on but, in general find it unappealing. That doesn't mean he has no right ot be on the air. The FCC should be monitoring those programs that promote hatred, including some of the evangelical ministries that air sermons. The promotion of violence, bigotry and hatred are the only things that should be banned. Bad taste, bathroom humor and sexual discussion doesn't hurt anyone but those who are insulted by it and they have a choice not to listen.
ummm, i don't remember the constitution denoting a right to air time. they own the channel and they can put whatever they want on those channels that they own. if ya wanna complain that clear channel and infinity are monopolizing the airwaves, then do so, but don't cry about how he has a "right" do whatever he wants on the radio. well, technically he does, but he has to find a station that's willing to broadcast it.
now he was pulled of six stations out of the several hundred on which he is carried. does anyone here not think that his ratings are gonna shoot through the roof on those channels that still carry him? he's gonna have a whole new audience who's listening just to see how he responds to this. so don't cry for howard.
if however you want to write your senator or congressman or take up a placard decrying the growing monopolies in the radio markets, by all means do so. but don't give me that crap that he has a "right" to say whatever he wants. he can say whatever he wants, but the stations and their owners have a right to say that he can't say it on their station if it violates their rules.
I'm a long time Stern listener, not because I love him, but because there are segments of his show that literally crack me up. For instance, when Gilbert Gottfried is on, I almost get an asthma attack from laughing so hard.
Anyway, with the Selena thing-it's interesting. When that happened, the Hispanic community lashed out at Stern, but I never heard complaints about the sound of shots in the background. Perhaps there were some complaints, but all I heard was that they were more upset about Stern saying Selena's music was no good.
I was a faithful Stern listener for years. When he split from his wife, the show went in a different direction, pandering to the young male audience. It wasn't funny anymore, and Howard seemed to just phone the show in. No more interaction with the family, his mother and father were gone as was his complaining about Allison's failure to buy him the only thing he wanted which at that time was bananas and tuna. He's a very funny guy and I spent many a morning laughing at that show.
i listen to howrad almost every morning and i think he great. they said the reason he was dropped in several places was because of the length of a conversation about sex, not about the content of the conversation. i feel if you dont want to listen to the kinds of things he talks about, change the channel. and as it goes with kids listening people should be parents and be aware of what there kids are listening to.
