Judas, if you are so intent on wanting to believe Eninem didn't know about it go ahead. If you don't think for one minute that the Producers of the show wouldn't be scared of injury and lawsuits from dropping someone on an unsuspecting Eninem perhaps that may be true.
I am sure that stunt was rehearsed and BOTH participants were at rehearsals.

Edited to add: When Walberg and Sandberg were having their "feud" it crossed networks and everyone was in on the gag. You think E! and MTV aren't tied at the hip on these awards?

I think this was 100% staged and yes, Eminem had a mic. Watch the clip below and you can hear em say under his breath when he's walking away, he turns around to look at Bruno and then says "Stupid mother........." He clearly said it into a mic.

Also the fact that Eminem's bodyguards kept flinging and spinning Cohen around on the wire. If they weren't in on it, they would have held him still and punched the crap out of him.

And I don't think it likely that THEY were in on it and Eminem wasn't.

Of course it was all planned. You can't just outfit a theatre to suspend someone and lower them into an audience spontaneously during an absurdly popular national faux film awards ceremony without anyone knowing. I don't think it was any more real than the Pamela Anderson scene in Borat. Eminem and his crew were probably in on it, but perhaps didn't know the specifics so a more genuine reaction could be captured. It certainly wasn't "free publicity". I doubt it was even very cheap. But it undoubtably produced the desired effect.

As fo me, I'm sort of over the guerilla filmmaking thing.
