I used Macs my whole life. Just got my first PC. I'll never go back to Mac.
While user-friendly, the time spent on making things work on the system is just ridiculous.

All I can say to that is that you must live in Bizarro World as your experience is totally opposite to 95% of other people I've met or talked to.

Well, as a guy whose first computer experience was apple/mac, I abhor abhor abhor Macs. The only Apple product I own and will ever own is an Ipod.
I detest Macs. My old PC could boot and be ready to go in a quarter of the time as my friend's Mac. I could brew an entire pot of coffee and drink it waiting on that thing to start up.

Posted: 3/3/06 at 9:45amOh CeeCee, you're so bitter. Apple rules, Macs are the best.

Yuck, CuCu, yuck. I do not like them. Your freaking Mac couldn't even keep the lettering on the keyboard. But that's probably because of your sweaty palm syndrome.

"My old PC could boot and be ready to go in a quarter of the time as my friend's Mac."
I assume that having to boot your old PC constantly, because of crashes, you would have a lot of experience with boot time. Since my Macs do not crash it's been quite a while since I've had boot any of them.

Don't get testy, Pab. I'm certainly not making fun of you for preferring a MAC. I don't get into the competition between them. However, I have nothing BUT frustration with Macs. In my opinion, they are not good at all. You hold the same for PCs. Makes the world go 'round, as they say.

Posted: 3/3/06 at 10:04amI'm here to say that the speed of booting goes to Mac hands down.. Maybe it's because I got the newest iMac out there, but I had Dells for 6 years. You could sit there and knit a sweater watching it try to boot up.The screen goes from one logo to another. My Mac is booted not 5 seconds after I turn it on. No intermediate screens.

To which I say, again, jane2, makes the world go 'round.
all I want is for you to be happy. If it's on a Mac, woot! But, for me, it's not.

Posted: 3/3/06 at 10:09amDon't get me wrong, I'm fine with whatever anyone wants. I'm really not trying to convince anyone to go either way. any post I made on this thread simply stated a fact I learned from having a mac, or a problem I had with my Dells. It might sound like I'm campaigning for Macs, but I'm not. pab's a little more passionate about them than I am!

I think it's great if you like a product and will "shill" for it. I do that with things I like, especially when someone asks. If you can show them why it's a better choice, more power to you. No one has ever ConvinceMe2 buy a mac before, though, and doubtful they ever will.
I don't even know why I want to buy a new video ipod. The trouble I've had with my mini is enough to give me a gray hair thinking about it and I had NOT a problem with my Dell Dj (which are now discontinued).

Posted: 3/3/06 at 10:15amActually, I was totally against getting a Mac for years. A friend of mine is even more passionate about them than pab. She was shilling her guts out to me since day one. I still wasn't getting a mac no matter what she said until last month when I renewed my subscription to Norton on my Dell. Everything broke down. I was just past the warranty of the Dell also. I threw up my hands and went the next day with my friend in tow, and bought this Mac. It was just a matter of timing.

Bwaysinger, are you trying to subtley tell me that you have been promoted from lowly poster to MOD?
If you are, you're already too strict!

Oh, Jane, I've had three comments deleted this morning for being "of a sexual nature" when they were not.
so, no, I am not a MOD....and it's doubtful they'd ever think I'm responsible enough for that.
