Private schools can pretty much expel a student for any reason. If you don't adhere to the dress code or the behaviour code. Of course in public school kids can get away with anything.
I put my oldest son in a private school after a bunch of kids spit on him in seventh grade. My youngest went to private school from second grade to his senior year in high school.
They are safer in private school.

The little darlings had told other students they were lesbians, one of them wrote on her facebook page that she was bisexual and the other's page said that she was unsure of her sexual orientation.
I must just be getting jaded or something. It is 2009, folks. Shouldn't it be common knowledge by now that RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS ARE NOT GAY-FRIENDLY and that you really shouldn't be surprised if those Religious folks shun you for being gay or gay-appearing?

So, I conform to Gay, Catholic and European, but I don't look gay, so I should be fine.
I agree that Jerby has a point. However, that's the argument put forward by the boy scouts over kicking out gays, saying that if they weren't allowed to control their membership, gay rights organizations wouldn't be able to stop zealous anti-gay people from joining to mess things up. My problem with that is that anti-gay wackjobs are purely joining to disrupt the organization, whereas gay kids don't decide to join the boy scouts to cause disruption. There's a difference.

Posted: 1/28/09 at 12:45pmThere are bound to be gray areas, but I think a line can be drawn with private and public--and any group that uses public/government funds (tax dollars) should be held to discrimination laws. Private groups should not.

I agree, jerby. Although there are bound to be situations that are unfair, ugly or where people feel excluded, it's more important to keep separation of church and state intact.
