I know it's a crazy thought but I hope salons start turning her away. Like bartenders when they think someone has been served too much. I know it's not their job but this stuff is bad for business.

Like the episode of King of Queens were Carrie pissed off a nail tech who called all the nail techs in the area and told them not to give her an appointment.

That particular salon has terminated her membership, but only because of all the negative media attention she has been generating. They were just tired of reporters hanging around.

I mean I wonder if she can see what we all see. Or if she sees someone with a much lighter, much more attractive complexion.

Oh, I know what you meant. But I still think she sees The Man in the Mirror. That's why I think she has such a similar dysfunction as Michael Jackson. She absolutely does not see what the rest of the world sees.

I know it's a crazy thought but I hope salons start turning her away. Like bartenders when they think someone has been served too much.

I was thinking exactly the same thing this morning! If I worked at a tanning salon and saw her walk in, my first question would be, "What is it you want from us?" Is the woman trying to develop melanoma in the hopes of a lawsuit against tanning salons for negligence?

Freaky and all, agreed. But if she was arrested on April 24, then how the hell come does her mug shot have the date "18/10/2012 11:07" stamped on it?? That would mean October 18, 2012, right? Which, unless I have had me a mini-Rip van Winklette here and have missed a few months,that date is **in the future**. Guess it's good that she's gonna look some better by then.

I've never been inside a tanning salon, but my stereotypical idea of who works there is a 16 year old whose manager has instructed her to ALWAYS talk the customers into a more expensive service.

I agree 100% with dramamama- I totally believe that a 5-year-old would say "I went tanning with mommy" even if she didn't actually tan herself. Additionally, crazy tan lady doesn't seem smart enough to make it up.

I'm not sure why, but this is where my mind immediately went. I've seen people tan a ridiculous amount and get that Chester Cheetah look, but this is just ridiculous!

Honestly, I think she goes to the tanning booth, then spray tans, then applies bronzer. Like, all in the same day.

She looks like Emmett Kelly in her mug shot (Google it, young'uns), and in video when she talks, her mouth moves like a ventriloquist dummy's.

I wish we could hit the cultural pause button right now and give this story a time out. Just ten minutes ago on my local 11 pm news, the newscaster said in his bro voice, "And now, because I'm a glutton for punishment, haw haw haw" he went on to RETELL the story, show the clip of her in blackface and add "lovely shade" and then quote the part where she said this is a witch hunt, which with all this coverage it IS, and that people who are criticizing her are fat and ugly.

So now, based on something her daughter said, not only was she arrested, but the ritual national humiliation of a mentally ill woman CONTINUES, because, haw haw haw, some newscasters are gluttons for punishment. Let it go, America. Let it go.

I can easily believe that the woman is telling the truth and her daughter merely went to the salon with her mom, didn't go into the tanning bed, and got a slight sun burn, if she has one at all, from being outside.

But should the mother be telling the truth, it would be most unfortunate if her perfectly reasonable explanation be discredited because her own tanning behavior reveals that she's obviously completely out of her mind.

She was likely just sitting in the room. I would imgaine you can lock the doors from the inside. Kids have to be alone sometimes: like when moms take showers, need to read on the potty or are upstairs putting away laundry. THAT part is not really a big deal.


I agree that the media (as so often happens) is making way too much of this -- especially since it seems so obvious the woman needs intervention.

I know kids have to be alone sometimes when parents are doing things like showering (I have a kid and yes I don't bring him in the bathroom when I shower). But that's in our house. Unless she took her in the room (which is illegal) then she would have had to leave her outside in the waiting area. Where a stranger could take her.

Also, didn't she say she was in a stand up booth? If she brought the kid in with her the kid would have been exposed to the lights.
