So I was just watching MTV hits and they had the song "Invisible" by Clay Aiken on. I had never ever really listened to the words of the song, but wow it is amazingly creepy! Stuff about being a fly on the wall, watching the girl all the time, following her every steps...weird.
So basically, my question is what seemingly popular "love-type" song has always struck you as a little bit creepy? Whether it brings to mind notions of "Fatal Attraction" or just seems a bit off.

"Having My Baby"- in which the singer congratulates his girlfriend/wife for not having an abortion:
DIDN'T HAVE TO KEEP IT
WOULDN'T PUT YOU THROUGH IT
YOU COULD HAVE SWEPT IT FROM YOUR LIFE
BUT YOU WOULDN'T DO IT
Another classic is "Every Breath you Take" and "Don't Stand So Close to Me." The Police have given us some stalkeriffic numbers.

i'll follow you down till the sound of my voice will haunt you...you'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you....
just what kind of audience would a clay aiken love song appeal to, anyway? pre-op transexuals? for the life of me i cannot understand the attraction of women or men to the phenomenon known as gayken.
As far as Gayken is concerned, my opinion as to why he's so loved, especially by middle-aged women and middle America, is that he's totally asexual. He's non-threatening, so it's ok for mothers to watch their daughters scream and go insane over him.
why do i think that if i stripped clay aiken like i used to do with my ken doll that they would be strikingly similar down below.
Ew! But so very true.
Did you happen to see his gay.com profile? He didn't take it down during American Idol, so it wasn't until after it was over that his "people" had it removed.
I kid you not, it said:
Sexual Position: Top
LOLOLOLOL
i've said it once and i'll say it again:
just because you throw yourself down on the floor and spin around wildly, it does not make you a "top."
ick ick! i have a strong dislike for him. invisible is disgusting and all the more creepy. its just wierd. "i wish i could be, a fly on your wall" i agree, why is he so loved??
Really? I never heard about the gay.com profile. Did it have the "Member since..." to prove that it really was him and not just somebody making a joke? Interesting. (another side note -- my mother loves Clay Aiken, so there you go)
As to the question, I've always loved "Superstar." Such a creepy song -- especially when Karen Carpenter sang it. Ruben Studdard, of course, totally ruined it.
That was funny, RobbO...Anybody who could get one eye open would know that Clay is gay--who's he hiding from anyway? Is he worried about his street cred? He can be a top, just not for anyone who's ever been a bottom.
Not to be on topic or anything (don't we HATE that?), but as much as I ADORE the song, I think "My Immortal" by Evanescence is pretty creepy. Will she EVER sing about someone who ISN'T dead?
Ooooh i LOVE "My Immortal."
"The Blower's Daughter" by Damien Rice is a bit creepy, and sad and beautiful.
I'm Not In Love is pretty creepy, something that Tori Amos underlined in her cover of it.
Poppy steps in at just the right time. I was JUST trying to think of a Tori love song that was creepy, but most I thought of were either just sad or weird.
It's not strictly speaking a Tori song though. I do remember her saying that she thought the lyrics to that song were just plain unsettling and that was what she wanted to highlight in her version though.
Most of the cd is unsettling! I remember it was released shortly after 9/11, and a lot of the songs pushed buttons that upset me.
The week after, in fact, as it came out on the 18th. I think her reworking of '97 Bonnie & Clyde is one of the most disturbing and brilliant things I've ever heard.
But Johanna from Sweeney Todd is quite creepy too. Megan Mullally reimagined it as the musings of a crazed stalker on her first, impossible to find, album.

I love all these songs listed on here. (Except Clay Aiken, of course.) Does this mean something is wrong with me?
Anyone remember "Cherish" by Kool And The Gang?
If you receive your calling/Before I awake/Will I make it through the night
Okay, so if she dies while he's asleep....he's worried about if he can "make it through the night".
I'm Not In Love is creepy? I must have missed something vital. I always heard it as a jerky guy who doesn't want to admit his true feelings.
