I just finished reading Queen of Babble in the Big City. It wasn't as good as i thought it would be.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It's not bad, but at least it's not as depressing as Hiroshima.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Just finished George Eliot's Middlemarch, Toni Morrison's Beloved, and E.M. Forster's Howard's End (thanks to a couple of days at the lake and some long car trips).

Now I can't decide if I should start Eugene O'Neill's Mourning Becomes Electra or Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway. Thoughts?

That's my next book to read. I'm reading BEING THERE right now. Fantastic book. I'll see the movie when I'm finished with it.

I remember you suggesting that book a while back and I asked for it at The Strand the other day and then I couldn't find it... i read his autobiography and (to my astonishment) enjoyed it! i'll get it someday

scott go for Mrs Dallaway early stream of conciousness but read The Hours after- you get anew appreciation for how he references the original (also the movie too)

The Inheritence of Loss by Kiran Desai.

Tazber - I've read Water for Elephants. It was a good, entertaining read but I'm not sure why it made the sensation that it did.

Tazber - the book is certainly enjoyable, but the characters and plot are no revelation at all. I suppose the charm is in the details and circus anecdotes, but otherwise pretty pedestrian.

i read it during UIL, so i finished it quickly. but it's nothing especiaallle.

starting Sophie's World (not choice) for school. BLECH.

I'm reading Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer. I love the Twilight series, even though it's about vampires. It's amazing-ly good.

Well I just went through every page on this thread because of two people I worked with. They had little notebooks where they listed any book that they want to read so I started mine last night and have about 54 on there so far.

I have not been reading much this summer at all because of my job which is depressing, usually I read about 50 books a summer.

This summer's highlights

She's Come Undone- Wally Lamb which I highly recommend.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (which i am rereading for our chapter discussions)

Breaking the Political Glass Ceiling: Women and Congressional Elections (Women in American Politics) by Barbara palmer. A really interesting book about the trends of women in politics and how things are set up that make it more difficult for women to get elected.

Now I am working on the Complete Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, I think I am on the third one right now.

If anyone has more suggestions I would love them!

'Paris And The Moon' by Adam Gopnik

Truly trying to get through this one. Not as interesting as a read as I originally thought it would be. I am also developing a distaste for the author.

Wasted: A Memoir of Anorexia and Bulimia by Marya Hornbacher

So far it's a very good read.
