I'm re-reading A SCANNER DARKLY by Philip K. Dick, and realizing how completely Richard Linklater's film was marred by that Keanu creature. Weren't there any actors available for the lead?

The Last Wife of Henry VIII by Carolly Erickson. It's so bad. I should have known after having read The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette. I never learn from my mistakes.

The Sign and the Seal by Graham Hancock. It's pretty interesting so far. I really enjoyed his Fingerprints of the Gods so I have high hopes.

Re-reading Candide for the 5000th time, and also Nicole Krauss's The History of Love. It's beautiful.

I'm exactly halfway through and I love it so far! I've often found that historical non-fiction can put me to sleep very quickly even when it's a subject that fascinates me. I couldn't believe it when it was 3:30 in the morning and I was still up turning pages!

If you liked this one, have you read Devil In The White City by Erik Larson?

I started "Devil in the White City" at Christmas Break and will now finish it during Summer Break.

Also picked up John Kennedy Toole's "Confederacy of Dunces" looking for a good audition monologue, but will re-read it for the 500th time, or so.

I am ALL about Devil in the White City! The best part is I don't even really like this point in history. I'm much more of an Ottoman Empire and Tudor era reader. But the whole sequence in Devil in the White City completely enthralls me.

To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf. No matter how many times I read it, it always thrills me.

I finished A SCANNER DARKLY, really excellent novel.

Currently reading LET IT BLEED by Ian Rankin, a novel in a series about Detective John Rebus. Solid, interesting series with fascinating characters, and sometimes rather unwieldy plots.

DBilly I'm getting ready to start my epic re-reading of the Harry Potter series as well. I do it before every new book comes out. I don't know what I'll do with myself after Deathly Hallows is released.
