I went over to the company's website to see what was so special. I didn't see anything that special about them. I did see that they have a disclaimer saying they have a high ammount of online orders now. I guess that's people's response to this.
I guess my retail doesn't count in this case either because if there was someone like Chris working for me he'd be out the door.

"As I am sure you are aware, people whom are talented generally do not tolerate having their time wasted, which is the reason you were provoked to leave the store...
Seriously? They're talking about someone who sells dresses for minimum wage as if he were Sondheim? Oh, wow.

Sadly, Jane, it seems to be true. I've certainly seen no denials (and I've been Googling a bit).

There are tons of people who would love to have a sales job, even at minimum wage (although I suspect he makes much more).
Also I can't blame Chris because it appears he is doing exactly what he was hired to do; represent the values the company stands for.
With a corporate culture like the one behind those emails I don't see how this company can stay competitive.

Taz, I'm also perplexed by this guy Chris being considered an example of a good salesman. Who barges into an occupied dressing room? Who says "oh, just get it!" Who yells out down the street that the customer is a joke? Hmm, I think someone who has no class and I don't know his age, but he sounds about 12. And the letter from the owner of the shop is appalling.
They were desperate to make a sale at any cost, and when they failed, they showed their anger by resorting to name calling. Ridiculous.

Many sales associates at high end stores here in the US work for a commission on top of their hourly wage. Anybody know if it's the same deal in Australia? It seems like Chris was pressuring her to buy it so that he could get his piece of the deal, then got angry because she didn't acquiesce to his command.
Taz is right though--he actions do seem to be in line with the company's view of customer service.

Chidgey's bizarre gushing over Chris sounds like they're still in the honeymoon phase of a relationship. Reading those comments felt like voyeurism.
Chris is a retail superstar, who possess unparalleled ability, and I am sorry you feel upset by him, but he knew you were not going to buy anything before you even left your house.
Then why is Chris working there instead of picking winning lottery numbers? Regardless, don't retail superstars with unspecified unparalleled abilities (to repel customers, perhaps?) usually close the sale instead of sabotaging it? My guess is, these two loathe hydrangeas as well. Looks like the early 90s Age of Attitude is in revival. Wake me up when it's over.

Joe, while I take your point that brides can be high-strung, the manager doesn't seem to contradict her version of events or even justify his employee's behavior (beyond implying that he reads minds and is valued for being a wank).

I'm kind of astonished at the terrible punctuation and grammar in the company's response. The completely incorrect use of "whom" is just laughable:
"Chris whom served you is a qualified stylist whom has a sixth sense for fashion, and Chriss only problem is that he is too good at what he does, and as I am sure you are aware, people whom are talented, generally do not tolerate having their time wasted, which is the reason you were provoked to leave the store."
This is like some ghastly parody. Maybe I wrote it myself, in the mode of Anita Loos/Lorelei Lee.

More, from the International Business Tribune:
"Refusing to back down, Gasp has further vowed to ban O'Neil and all her friends from stepping into the stores, while thanking her for initiating free promotion.
"'GASP's official statement to the young lady who started this tremendous publicity stunt for our company is that, we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for putting our business on the national and international stage,' Chidgey wrote in an email to the Herald Sun.
"'Notwithstanding your ill intentions, our business has experienced unprecedented sales volume, and we would like to thank you for all your assistance in helping to achieving this.
"'To all the rude and obnoxious clowns, we respectfully ask that you get out and stay out, we don't want you or your business. We ask that (you) share your misconceived and unfounded remarks amongst yourselves. Have a nice day and good luck,' added Chidgey, ending the email."
