Hi guys. Since we're students, I figure a decent number of us are taking dance. This thread is for venting after a painful, irksome, or repetetive dance class. I'll start. Tap Class = OUCHIES

i've never had any problems with tap...i don't really hurt afterwards...but what really hurts is pointe ughhh
My problem is that I'm breaking in a new pair of shoes, so I have a set of extremely sore feet. I can anticipate tommorow's pain after I live through Theater Jazz and Hip Hop. Oy.

I have a three hour tap rehearsal tomorrow for "anything goes" - I can ALREADY feel the pain.
If it makes you feel better I have 4 hours total tommorow - hip hop and theater jazz

I never really have any problems in dance except my back when I do ballet. I've always had lower back pain, but then I read in Dance magazine that lots of people who take ballet get that : hmmm

Breaking in new tap shoes-OUCH! I've been putting that off myself for quite a while now, but my shoes are getting pretty gross, so it won't be too long until I have to suffer that way too.
I usually get the most sore after ballet or jazz/modern because I'm not the most flexible person in the world...
I have from 3-9:30 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thrusdays, and Saturdays, and i'm only 12! But it's fun, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Ballet is like hell for me.
I wasn't born a flexible person so everything I do in ballet I've had to work for. Thankfully, I have that down now but I always leave that class sore and grumpy.
play it cool, i'm currently in anything goes also. what part are you playing?

Im just a dancer/passenger which was kind of dissapointing for junior year but thats alright, I suppose. I'm over it and besides, Ive still got one year :).
Its still a lot of fun, I get to tap dance like crazy and show off to the rest of the cast haha.
What about you?
My latest painful class was my theater dance class yesterday. I hadn't had any time to eat and by the end of the class I was so hungry and exhausted that I almost threw up. Lovely, I know. On the bright side, we did an awesome dance to "You Can't Stop the Beat" and I got to be Amber.
None of my classes are too bad, fortunately. But, I'm currently breaking in new tap shoes and semi-new pointe shoes. And yesterday I went to dance with a fever (NOT a smart idea! LOL!), so I wasn't a happy camper yesterday. LOL
I have lateral shin splints at the moment (I'd take the more common shin splints on the front of the leg for triple the time I'm having these. Oof.), so my dance teachers have banned me from all pointe work and allegro jumping for the next two weeks. I wouldn't mind being forbidden from doing adages pirouettes (haha), but allegro is my thing. So I guess that's my biggest complaint at the moment.
I have a tap/jazz workshop tomorrow from Noon-5:30. OUCH.
I have really horrible feet with almost no arch and they just hurt all the time even when I'm not dancing, so in ballet when i'm always on my toes and now tap (i'm in anything goes too!) they KILL me!!

i'm starting ballet tomorrow...and i'm so nervous!!
i've done a little bit of ballet before, but i'm jumping into the middle of Ballet I that all the musical theatre majors here take...and i just hope they aren't mean to me since i won't be completely back up to speed yet.
AHHHHHH!! i'm sure i'll be pretty sore after that, too...but i have to suck it up!
ok well im in Bye Bye Birdie and we have to dance in CONVERSE!!! no ankle suppoert WHATSOEVER! i NEVER dance in anything other than jazz shoes or barefoot. and i just tried the converses yesterday and my feet kill....this should be fun

triplethreat, capezio has dance sneakers with a split sole that look sort of like converse...
I haven't danced at a studio since I got into HS. I did ballet for two years with tap for six. Dropped ballet, took flamenco along with tap. I've been meaning to go back...but three years of not dancing leads to facinating in school auditions.

I keep killing myself because I think I should be focused on one kind of dance. I've been taking dance for ten years, and I'm still not really good at a particular kind.
I took ballet for 5 years, irish for 5 years, tap for almost a year, jazz for a year, and now I'm taking ballroom.
I feel like I should one that I'm good at...
I took tap for...a month. (in preparation for Millie, which closes tonight ::cries::) But I took Dance P.E. That was... not fun...however it did help.
I think I still consider myself an actor/singer who moves well. hahah no hope for me as a dancer.
hey thanks marlene. ill check into that b.c my feet flipping hurt.
this summer my dance lessons were insane i got there every morning (excpet sun and sat)at 10 am and left at 4 pm Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, ballet, technique, hip hop, stretch and conditioning everyday!! and now that im in shows im doin about half of that and i feel like im not doing anything!
I have auditions for Guys & Dolls on Tuesday/ Thursday (not sure if dance is included), and then balelt with a really cranky teacher on Friday for 1.5 hours.
