I might agree with the judges, if just about every other pro dancer hasnt choreographed the same way. Edyta is the biggest offender of this tactic.
Did Carrie Ann mention that lifts were suddenly okay this week? I would expect her to clarify that for disco it is okay since she's usually such a harpie about it.
Oh god, when Cloris said skanky ho, I thought I was going to fall off my seat!
Yeah, Cloris was funny saying that. I think it is time for Susan Lucci to go though. Okay, she has a fractured foot, but she just bores me.
I also was wondering about the lifts this week. Unless they were excused for the types of dances they were doing. But then I thought it mattered. So, I don't know.
I'm not getting the praise this week and last for Lucci either.
I know disco has lifts, so wouldnt mind if they changed the rules (that Carrie Ann mentions ad nauseum) if they clarified for the audience. This show is making me very crabby this season.
The dancing this season is way below the show's usual standard. There really is no competition, as far as I'm concerned. Derek and Brooke deserve to win it. I can't see that changing.
I watched the show from season 1. I definiately think it is far below their usual standards. Maybe it is the stars, there was not one I warmed up to. In past seasons, I always had a favorite, usually male, and voted. I have not voted yet. Maybe it is just getting old or there are no stand outs except Brooke Burke. I love Maks and it was a lot of the reason I watched DWTS. Too bad, he is off. He is absolutely gorgeous. Clorox is really starting to get on my nerves.
I, too, was wondering about the lifts.
Isn't there a point in the season where they become allowed? Maybe they've reached that point in the season?
Brooke and Derek gave the single best dance so far this season, and I thought it deserved a perfect 30. However, I was most impressed with Cody and Julianne. That cute little twink just stepped up his game! How much fun would a brother-sister final two be?!?
I was a bit surprised at the severity of the criticism leveled at Lacey. While the point was valid, it is nothing we haven't seen on every episode of every season since the beginning.
I always just assumed that until the freestyle, lifts were against the rules. I think they may have made an exception last season, for one week, because too many people were doing them.
And I do agree that the competition aspect has sort of died down. I noticed it last season. Like I wanted Kristy and Mark to have better competition, but they didn't. I have not seen every single season though because I was either at work or in class, so I can't say anything about all of them. But yeah, season 2, I loved Drew Lachey, and he deserved to win, but I also would have been fine with Stacey Keibler or Jerry Rice winning.
Lifts were allowed, because lifts are part of the basic elements of disco dancing, which they call The Hustle in ballroom lingo and The Jitterbug. They are not basic elements in the other ballroom dances that have dominated DWTS.
I think Brooke is a good dancer, but I can't get excited about her...I'm kinad rooting for Toni Braxton--I think she's great...not Leslie Caron great, but what do you want?
I understand that lifts are part of disco and jitterbug, but did they explain that to the audience? I find it odd that there was simply no mention of it after Carrie Ann makes such a big deal.
Did they mention it or not?
I agree that this seasons "stars" seem to be lacking both in skill and personality. I'm rooting for the pros this season. I love Julianne and Kim (or Kym?) so hope they go far.
I never heard them mention it, but I "watch" a lot of the show in fast forward!
"Brooke and Derek gave the single best dance so far this season, and I thought it deserved a perfect 30. However, I was most impressed with Cody and Julianne. That cute little twink just stepped up his game! How much fun would a brother-sister final two be?!?"
These were my exact thoughts DBillyP!!!!
Doodle, I don't understand why the lift thing wasn't addressed before the show either.
Maybe if enough people inquired about it, they will adress it tonight?
I like Cody and Julianne, but I'm surprised they're getting away with some of those "dance moves" on a Disney owned network. Especially last night's Jitterbug when he went down on her on the dance floor.
Who was voted out?
Toni Braxton.
But Susan Lucci should have gone. And I don't care for Justin Timberlake at all.
But I'm not a judge.
Yeah, I was mad about Susan staying. I feel like falling asleep watching her dance every week. And honestly, I know she can't do anything about the way she speaks, but she just has this soft voice that makes me think that she might break if she does any hardcore dance moves, and that's why she is so careful. LOL!
"And I don't care for Justin Timberlake at all."
Thank God I thought I was the only one!
Cody and Julianne get away with it because they're young and cute and catering exactly to the meat market that is the Disney fanbase. Cute on the outside, but whores on the inside!
Susan's voice and facial expressions are annoying as anything.
Ugh, I am ready for her to go.
I still don't mind Susan. I think Clorky will be the first to go after the two dance week.
I'm still voting for Cloris. I am on Team Clorky. This season is a SNOOZE and Cloris at least gives me something unexpected to look forward too. She breathes new life into the show. Plus, it is getting ridiculous with how much they milk these shows now. I mean, the first hour last night was basically a re-airing of Monday night. I have just started watching the last ten minutes of the results show. What a total waste.
Also, I hated that "Dance Through The Ages" number last night. I thought it tanked. I was like "they rebuilt the stage for this?" WTF??
I hope Cody comes out during this season. I think he's adorable and my gaydar goes off when I see him. Maybe he can date Lance.
The dancing is under par in everyway and at least Cloris entertains me.
I think they need to aim higher in terms of star power. These need to change the name to "Dancing With The Celebrities". These people are not stars, although Lucci is a TV legend.
So, was the "Dancing Through the Ages" live? With so many sets, I don't see how it could have been.
