"She won by throwing in a triple at the end to make up for a missed one and it was odd and not graceful at all, but she did it and got credit for it...she won.."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that triple (which she double-footed and should've counted for a deduction) helped her tie with Kerrigan. Thus, the need for a tie-breaker. But it was the artistic merit that won Baiul the gold 'cause the Olympic judges opted to go that route to decide the eventual winner. Had they gone with technical (like they'd done in the past) Kerrigan would've won. As it were, Baiul edged her out by 0.1 points in artistic.
BTW: I concur, Nancy's costumes were anything but corny.
Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiae
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra
Salve, Salve Regina
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Eva
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
O clemens O pia
