Diva's sinfully delicious picture posted in the Cronut thread got me thinking about my 10+ years of love/hate relationships with diet fads. I have tried them all and none worked, so I just created my own.
Any one else on a diet right now? Which ones have you all found the most effective? I'm wavering with mine right now!!!

Adderall is a good drug too to lose weight and stay awake.
In all seriousness, I've just been working on cutting back on bad foods and try to exercise more. I've been counting all my calories, carbs, fat, and protein through Spark People online.

I have been taking phsyllium and flax seed for the last 6 months and have dropped about 30 lbs. I've also cut out all fast food, and frozen/processed food as much as I can. Also cut way back on the alcohol intake at night, stopped drinking sodas and try to cut down on my sweets.
Which is why I only ate half of that chocolate cronut...

none work. Best diet is to push yourself away from the table, watch what you eat, and exercise.

Namo,
I am ashamed to say I had to Google that. But it made me laugh!

i just stay away from enriched flours of any kind and fried food, aside from french fries once in a while and not have to worry
enriched flour is the devil though, and fyi youre local wheat bread is made from it too.
its why the french, italians and most of europe can eat all the bread they want and not gain a pound. its not enriched

I find I do best if I have a structured plan that I can resolve to stick to. Trying to just make healthier choices gives me too much wiggle room to stray off the path. I'm good with structure though and once I resolve to something, I don't find it difficult.
The plan I use is Slimfast 3-2-1. Three 100 calorie snacks, two 200 calorie meal replacements (shake or bar) and one 500 calorie balanced meal of your choice.
My typical day is:
8am a shake (not the premixed kind. I buy the powder, mix it with Mio fruit flavored water instead of milk. I make up for the milk calories by using 50% more powder, 50% more Mio and blending it all with a handful of frozen strawberries. This gives me a really good sized smoothie that's high in protein and fiber. So it keeps me full until snack time.
10:30 I grab a handful of pretzels or something similar.
12;30 I have a meal bar.
2:30 I have a piece of fruit.
5pm I have pretty much whatever I want for dinner (reasonable portions, etc., but no counting or worrying about it)
7:30 maybe some popcorn or a fruit pop. Absolutely no cheating in between.
If I'm out at a party or restaurant or on vacation, I don't worry. Being good most of the time allows me to forget about it at special times. I don't find the plan difficult. In fact I enjoy the shakes and bars and don't really even think about it as dieting. After awhile, it just became the way I eat. I've been doing it for about two years and have no problem maintaining my ideal weight. All my blood work, cholesterol, blood pressure, etc are perfect and my doctor tells me whatever I'm doing, keep doing it.

Once in a while, I still have pasta though have been using the gluten-free brown rice kind (which tastes just like regular pasta). I also eat pretty much every couple of hours even if it is sometimes just a protein shake in between meals. However, I still indulge myself occasionally with a treat. Such as that cronut. Mmm… cronut

I just had another one...
Damn you cronut!
Oh, and another thing. Just eat until you are full. You don't have to finish everything on your plate.
