If it turns out not to be a musical, then why bother? The first one was a take off of another movie. Do we need a remake for any reason unless it's a musical?

the movie DRS is itself a remake of the classic "Betime Story" with David Niven.
I acually really liked the musical, it was better than the movie imo.

There was something unsettling and outlandish about the comedy of the film that made me uncomfortable when played straight but translated directly into funny when set to music. If anyone asks for my views specifically, I vote for a musical movie, all the way. ^_^

Posted: 9/27/08 at 5:28pmI want a musical, and I want Jack Black as Freddie and Anne Hathaway as Christine. Not sure about Lawrence.

Posted: 9/27/08 at 6:33pmI thought the movie was quite dull. Granted, I saw it after I saw the musical.

YES! and another yes to John Lithgow
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu

Posted: 9/27/08 at 7:24pmI saw the movie prior to seeing the musical. I loved the movie before seeing the musical--but after you see Norbert's over the top comedy, it makes the movie seem pretty dull.

Posted: 9/27/08 at 7:35pmI guess Lithgow would be OK, but Jonathan Pryce was SO MUCH BETTER than him on stage that it soured me a little towards Lithgow. How about Kevin Kline as Lawrence?

Posted: 9/28/08 at 2:59amyou're right. I loved John Lithgow, but Jonathan Pryce rose to the challenging of taking the role over and rocked it out!!!! loved him as Lawrence. I guess I could see Kevin Kline do it. what about Kenneth Branagh?
