If it turns out not to be a musical, then why bother? The first one was a take off of another movie. Do we need a remake for any reason unless it's a musical?

Do we need a remake even if it is a musical?

the movie DRS is itself a remake of the classic "Betime Story" with David Niven.

I acually really liked the musical, it was better than the movie imo.

i hope it's based on the musical.

There was something unsettling and outlandish about the comedy of the film that made me uncomfortable when played straight but translated directly into funny when set to music. If anyone asks for my views specifically, I vote for a musical movie, all the way. ^_^

I want a musical, and I want Jack Black as Freddie and Anne Hathaway as Christine. Not sure about Lawrence.

Umm... how about John Lithgow?

I thought the movie was quite dull. Granted, I saw it after I saw the musical.

I saw the movie prior to seeing the musical. I loved the movie before seeing the musical--but after you see Norbert's over the top comedy, it makes the movie seem pretty dull.

I guess Lithgow would be OK, but Jonathan Pryce was SO MUCH BETTER than him on stage that it soured me a little towards Lithgow. How about Kevin Kline as Lawrence?

you're right. I loved John Lithgow, but Jonathan Pryce rose to the challenging of taking the role over and rocked it out!!!! loved him as Lawrence. I guess I could see Kevin Kline do it. what about Kenneth Branagh?

Loved the movie, left the musical at intermission. Can't imagine why anyone would make another movie - either remake or musical.
