This interview of Dakota Fanning from Japanese TV is both funny and disturbing. The poor kid who is interviewing her - the president of a Japanese Dakota Fanning fan club - is incredibly nervous! Also, Dakota Fanning's demeanor is SO pleasant that it's borderline creepy:

Posted: 2/14/06 at 11:46pmJerseyGirl2, she DOES act like a typical Amy Poehler character from SNL...from the laugh, to the way she's sitting, her voice- everything! After watching this, I'm surprised there hasn't been a SNL sketch with Amy Poehler impersonating her!

Posted: 2/14/06 at 11:50pmElphaba-she's just a kid but she's an extraordinary kid. What bothered me about the interview is all the silly stuff from the Japanese boys. I didn't have the patience. It had nothing to do with Dakota.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
"This is a pen!"
"What type of man do you like?"
"Band"
"Man...man..."
"...oh, boy!"
"Is Tom's dog he or she?"
Oh, man. He was funny. He nearly died when she hugged him!
Her teeth are crazy!

Posted: 2/15/06 at 1:58amThe fact that she handled them so well is what is a little disturbing. What a strange child. I want to buy her some barbies and make her play with them!

RICK! RICK! RICK!
Okay, I totally dig Dakota, and I think it's so charming that she can stay completely poised and sweet throughout that. I'm more embarrassed for that kid who was interviewing her! "This. Is. A. Pen." *dies*

thank you Tiff.....I find her very engaged and fresh.
but I also agree with Goth....she can afford nicer clothes....then again, to learn to be comfortable in what you wear that young is a good thing........

Oh yes.. please.. let's insult a pre-teen who dresses "normally" for a press junket as opposed to donning a Donna Karan. Let's make sure we push someone that young into a lifestyle that's unhealthy because that's what "we" are used to seeing.
Give it a rest - she was amazingly poised, professional and understanding of the situation. If she wasn't, you'd all get on her back about being this or that.
As for her teeth comment - she's at the age where she's losing baby teeth and new ones are coming in. It's rather shallow and obnoxious (I'm sorry) to start pointing a finger at others - especially so young - about BIOLOGY.
I'm sure everyone posting in this thread never had a funny smile when they were her age - or anything else that was not considered "movie star perfect"
Sheesh...

oh she's darling! So poised for such a young age, and trying so hard to be polite and encouraging.
Those interviews must be torture... but part of the job.
She's a lovely young lady.

I love Dakota Fanning. I hope she wises up about Tom Cruise, but I love her nonetheless.
That said, I know someone just PERFECTLY capable of fitting right in with those freakouts.

Thank you for what you said, Craig - I was beginning to think I had missed something.
And I'll take a double-slice of papa, please.
