Dixie Chicks on Howard Stern

Posted: 5/25/06 at 1:57pmThe Chicks were on Howard's SIRIUS show today for about an hour. It was a very entertaining appearance: they talked about politics, the retarded reaction of country music radio stations against their music, Reba of all people taking a shot against them on the CMA show, and concluded with a nice cover of Stevie Nicks's "Landslide".

Granted, they are being pretty out there in their own opinion of country music and its fans right now. I understand, but they ought to tone it down unless they really DON'T want to be a part of mainstream country ever again.
They made a cheap shot at Reba recently, and I'm not sure if it was before or after Reba's shot at them.

Posted: 5/25/06 at 2:01pmYou know what? They have GUTS! Good for them. And Reba should know better. She has had one face lift too many.

I'm not defending Reba, especially since I always equated her as one of the FEW country stars who had anything approaching class. I'm just saying that the Chicks are snarking back and they could just rise above it. I'm glad they're not apologizing but now they're just offending them more by calling the people who bought 60 million records and made them rich a bunch of backwoods rednecks.

Posted: 5/25/06 at 2:05pmI think if the Dixie Chicks last long enough, they'll get face lifts too!
#5re: Dixie Chicks on Howard Stern
Posted: 5/25/06 at 2:05pmGuess what? 90 percent of them are ignorant rednecks.

Posted: 5/25/06 at 2:06pmyeah, but with Reba's face, it's like...why bother?

Posted: 5/25/06 at 2:36pmI always thought she had a pretty face. Maybe I haven't seen her recently enough.

The Chicks shot at Reba first. They said that they were happy that Country radio and fans were ignoring them. They said they wouldn't want to be in a CD player between Reba McEntire and Toby Keith. Reba said on the ACM awards, "I don't know why I was so worried about hosting this show. I mean, if the Dixie Chicks can sing with their foot in their mouth, surely I can host this little show."
I just don't know why the Chicks are trying to alienate EVERYone. They have insulted Toby, Reba, country radio, country fans, and specific top country songs (which are really stupid, but still.) Okay, they don't want to be country anymore. I get it. But shouldn't they stop recording country music if that is the case? The new CD is country. Hard to get around that.

oh, I'm ALL about them insulting Toby Keith.
And Gretchen Wilson.

Posted: 5/25/06 at 2:51pmwhy, are they a-holes too?

Charlie Daniels deserves the most insults.
Beastly, disgusting, small-minded blob of filth.

Toby Keith's newest album is titled, "White Trash With Money."
I hate him. I hate coming from a place where people are suddenly so proud of being backwards, undereducated, so convinced that anyone who isn't exactly the same should be bombed back into the stone age, etc.
Gretchen Wilson has some damn stupid song out about being proud of being a stupid farm girl, too.
(offense to REAL farm girls and educated southerners is not meant)

Posted: 5/25/06 at 3:02pmSounds like Pink should go and kick Gretchen's ass!

oh, seriously, I would love to see the Chicks team up with someone like Pink and go over there and kick their butts.
Reba, I believe, got a standing O for her Chicks comment.

You know something's wrong with country music fans when it falls to Bill O'Reilly to come to their aid.
I'm even MORE surprised CMT's website put the link to this article up there.

Why? Did it turn your world upside down to see O'Reilly say something like that? I think he does it just to fill a "Fair and balanced" quota.

Posted: 5/25/06 at 3:25pmoh no...not O'Reilly (for a change), it's the standing o for Reba.

Papa, you'd be surprised by the amount of country music on my Zen. But listen to any country music these days and the old fashioned "Wink and a nod" to being backwards and redneck has been replaced by such an "in-your-face-and-proud-of-my-stupidity" attitude that I'm off-put by most of it now.

just because gretch's last single was a paean to getting drunk in a bar, having her tooth knocked out and wrecking her truck?
c'mon, man, that's country music!
