There is a new trailer which is basically all of Beyonce and no one else...it makes it look like its a movie all about her and just really annoyed me.

Yes they do actually.

It is called smart marketing...it really pulls in those who aren't interested in musicals or the buzz.

Well, I did read that her parents were mainly the ones mad because of the buzz around Jennifer Hudson, not Beyonce
but that's all I know about her parents...
ETA?
Absolutely -- it's called Marketing. You push the names THAT people know to bring in an audience.
If they would have pushed Jennifer Hudson's name or Anika Noni Rose's in the TV spots, it would have just been another 'black' film with 'no names', and we know how THOSE do at the box office.
Dreamworks and Paramount Pictures are marketing the film via it's 3 top marketable names: Jamie Foxx, Beyonce' Knowles and Eddie Murphy. After they see the film, it's Jennifer Hudson who the audience ends-up talking about.
Again...it's called Marketing -- and no, though the film soundtrack is partially produced by her father, Beyonce's folks are not involved with any aspect of the marketing of this film nor her casting in the film.
I hear Anika Noni Rose's aunt was in charge of security, Jennifer Hudson's father greenlit the project, and Jamie Foxx's family designed all the costumes.

Anika and Jennifer will get their names up there someday, don't worry. MAybe if we're lucky for the DVD theyll change it to the names of the dreamgirls, since it is what the movie is about. Seriously, to men as marquee names for a movie called Dreamgirls?
Beyonce's parents are people who want their daughter to get all the praise in a movie where other people gave a better performance than their daughter.

Although it does really upset me that Beyonce is getting all the publicity and the "Best Leading Actress" nominations, at the end of the day, if it gets people to see the film, they will see Ms Hudson and Ms Rose, who's performances will most definitely out shine Beyonce and they will gain star status that will sky rocket them... it's all about being patient
Someone said that by the time the DVD came out both Jennifer and Anika's names would be on the cover art.
After seeing the film last night I can officially say that I just "don't get" Beyonce.
This is all a little unfair to Ms. Knowles, IMO. I saw the movie, and Beyonce turned in just as great a performance as anyone else did. She even outshined Jamie Foxx, the big Academy-Award winner of the cast. I don't feel like all this flack she's getting for being famous and having a succesful career, the kind evryone else in the industry strives for, is deserved. If the people behind the movie are pushing her to the forefront, I don't think that's all her fault. Like others previously mentioned, she is the big name, it's a no-brainer that she would be the bait to get people to see this movie. In case you ahven't noticed, movie musicals ain't exactly an easy sell these days.
She worked very hard on this movie, and if you watch her performance in 'Dreamgirls' compared to the other films she's done, she definitely committed to this and strove to do her best, and to fantastic reuslts, if you ask me. Beyonce worked extremely hard to get where she is today, is very talented, and deserves every ounce of fame and success she has. It's unfair to knock her just for being a success. She has way more right to be than the Hiltons and Richies, etc. that are out there soaking up fame and fortune for absolutely no good reason.
Funny Face
Please do not forget that in an interview, Beyonce said that she wished she could have gained 20 pounds so that she could have played Effie.
Still think she doesn't want to be the center of attention?

Yeah, what an effing bitch she is. The nerve!
Why is it that some people have to take issue with every single thing the woman says, does, doesn't say, doesn't do? Seriously. I just don't get it.

"Still think she doesn't want to be the center of attention?"
I actually think that, like many other performers, she wished she could be associated with the one role that people actually talk about, with songs that they actually remember.

If scrawling BEYONCE in cursive over posters and billboards sells the tickets that allow the other talent (Rose and Hudson) to be seen, then scrawl away.

Don't forget, thoough, this is a woman who called a cast recording a soundtrack! On television!

Break out the tar and feathers, Kringas!
I'm just hoping the movie is good. Oprah has a terrific track record when it comes to featuring "not so good" movies.
Jamie Foxx's sister DID design the costumes, didn't she?

Kill her!
I just don't get those of you who just don't get Beyonce.
For me it isn't her persona at all, I just don't care for her voice. I suppose it's a bit of overexposure as well. I blame the "ravish my hair" Feria commercials. I will say Ring the Alarm was fabulously gay.

Only thing to do is sing a song from Forbidden Broadway:
Who do they know?
Who do they know?
That gets them
Where they want to go?

Umm, what R&B singer/actress in her right mind wouldn't want to play Effie? It's a fantastic role that made stars of unknown actresses. 700+ women auditioned for the part in the movie. Any diva-in-training would kill to play Effie, so I don't think Beyonce intimating that she would too is all that great of a reason to hate her.
