I don't care that it's a Christmas episode in April, but I care that it didn't hold a candle to any of the previous Christmas episodes, even season 1's ("It's December 10th!"). Clearly this was one of the ones shot after Chevy already left.

So there are what, three episodes left? How are they going to wrap up the show, I wonder (I'm going ahead and assuming that this is the end)? We've barely seen them at school at all and I totally forget that Jeff wanted to graduate early. I also totally forgot the dean moved in next to Jeff, since I think this is the first time it's even been mentioned since episode one of the season.

I think we might get another season. Tvbythenumbers still has it listed as a toss up for renewal or cancelation which is a good sign. We'll know in the next few weeks what's happening, though.

I actually enjoyed last night's episode more than Comparative Religion from the first season. There's no way it can hold a candle to the other two Christmas Episode, but since they are two of my favorites that isn't exactly surprising. While a 5th Season with Harmon back would be an impossible dream, I'd take anything at this point. I think the last few weeks have shown great improvement and would love to see it last a little longer.

See, for me, in retrospect I liked the puppet episode even less than the night it aired. Those songs were horrible. Compared to the other songs that have been written for this show, they were horrble and I think compared to actual songs anywhere, they were horrible. Boring and unmelodic, all of them. I thought the Sophie B episode was probably the best of this season, though, but I just can't figure out what order these shows are supposed to be in at all. I guess Abed meeting that Rachel girl really meant nothing, since she's never going to be mentioned again?

And the tag in this episode with the other timeline just didn't do it for me at all, and I usually love the dark timeline stuff.

And god, the Chang stuff - does anyone even care who he's talking to?

Meh. Origin stuff is always dicey, and it bugs me when history has to be rewritten to explain flashbacks (Friends was notoriously bad with this). I really don't like that it turned out Troy DID remember Annie from high school and that what she said to him was what made him decide to do that keg flip/stand/whatever.

So Chang was put up to this by City College. Fine. So when Partner and Houlihan found that fish farmer who does that mean the fish farmer was in on it, too? Or does the conspiracy just go that deep?

I can't believe there could just be one episode left. And I can't believe how little I care. I guess that clusterf*ck this season has ultimately turned out to be will make it easier to say good-bye, but god, I'm really over it. I think that I was extra forgiving with the first few episodes and with the exception of Herstory of Dance, most of this season has been infinitely forgettable.

I'm just left with so many questions that make me wonder if the new showrunners had any idea what they were doing at all. I know that the season has been wildly out of order and I know it's a shortened season, but it was Christmas two weeks ago and now the year is over? K. Remember when Jeff was gonna graduate early? What happened to that? Was this a two semester history class they took? What was the point of having the dean move in next door to Jeff if they really never did anything with it? What happened to the girl Abed met at the Sophie B Hawkins dance? Seriously, if I could remember more about the episodes that preceded this one I'm sure I'd have a million more questions, but as it is, this whole season just seems regrettable now. I just noticed that nobody even posted a thing about last week's episode.

ETA: I just read something about the finale, and it seems this season only covered one semester.

I just don't know. On one hand, I'll miss these characters, especially my most beloved Shirley, who seems to barely even be an entity this year (though I hope she gets valedictorian) and even though they've all been distorted from what they once were. On the other, I just don't know that I want to go through another season hoping that things will improve or that the episodes will get the show back on track. I'm terribly ambivalent about it, I guess. What about you?

I like shows that have a definite, fulfilling end. Smash started off with the creation of Bombshell, and it may end with it at the Tonys. Community started with the first semester and the formation of the group. It seems right to end it with graduation. I'm sure they can find fun stories and adventures for the post-grads, but why?

It's my understanding that tonight's episode is the end of the first semester, so - unless they do some kind of tag/coda/jump ahead - the only person who might actually graduate tonight is Jeff. But I agree with the closure thing. If the show still had Dan Harmon behind the wheel I'd think that I'd want to see these characters in their lives beyond Greendale, but in the absence of the one who created them all, I agree with your "why?"

Agreed, though at least the explains why they were still in history class, since I kept thinking, "Was this history class the entire year or something?" My guess it that originally with the short season (before it was yanked in the fall) that they were hoping to do the second half of the semester with a season five, but I don't know.

As long it it remained with NBC, I think the chances of Harmon coming back are next to nil. A friend of mine and I were talking about that a couple of weeks ago and he pointed out that it seemed NBC had problems with Harmon beyond the conflict with Chevy. But that would still be my hope, that Harmon would come back and we could just start senior year over and write off this season as a dream or part of a different timeline or just pretend it didn't happen at all.

I didn't hate it. Evil Drunk Shirley makes me laugh. It's just - like everything else this semester - it was both totally disconnected from everything else in the season and filled with callbacks to earlier, better episodes.

Wynbish, I thought of our exchange from earlier today from Troy said "We just finished Fall-Spring" semester.

Coming from someone who couldn't stand the thought of Community being over, I'm kind of ready for it now. That being said, I would watch another season if it came back. Like you, Phyllis, I would miss the characters.

I'm still feeling ambivalent, though I would like to see the five remaining study group students graduate.

And if they do order a new season, we should probably count on seeing it in the winter of 2014.

Honestly it is a community college. People don't necessarily go there for their immediate AA degrees. The character back stories have them being there long than 2-4 years makes sense.

I think Go On's cancellation makes their renewal status very good.
