Tiff, you're right. I do feel sorry for straight guys. We girls are incredibly complicated. Frankly, I don't have myself figured out.

I consider any positive adjective an enormous compliment if it's directed at me. I don't take compliments for granted, because in my opinion, I don't really deserve them that often.

I want you all to grow up a chubby, bushy-haired, translucent-skin, "Husky" clothes-size-wearing child. And on top of it all, I was a bossy little cow. I wore the Reebok shoes with white socks scrunched down. I had the Umbro shorts that showed EVERY SINGLE HARD-ON I EVER HAD. I even had the wind suits because they didn't make jeans that would fit around my big belly.

I grew up U.G.L.Y.

So I learned around Middle School the only way people would like me was if I gave them my lunch and a free b.j. behind the gymnasium.

Ah. I miss Coach Reiley. He liked me a lot.

Good times.

I am so horrible at taking compliments it is insane. I've always been that way though, especially from people I know are my friends. If some random person paid me a compliment I'd take it easier than someone who knows me giving me one. Why? Because of my pessimistic nature I automatically assume that when a friend pays me a compliment it is because he or she is my friend and therefore he or she feels he or she must say it. I know, it's not exactly a great quality to have.

As for physical appearance I never get called much of anything. Occasionally adorable. I very rarely get called pretty. I will say though that I prefer not being called anything to someone calling me ugly so I'm thankful that thats never happened.

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

Bythesword, I know I'm your friend so you probably won't believe me...but you are beautiful. And I'm going to make sure to say that to you the next time your pretty face is in front of me (*coughbirthdaycough*).
I wouldn't pick just anyone to be my baby mama. And you'd better believe that, yo!

Awww thank you, you know I love you. But fair warning my reaction will probably be inadvertantly negative. Generally compliments trigger the automatic sarcastic reply (well, anything pretty much gets that from me, really.) I know, I know, you'll see me I swear it but don't forget I leave on Monday until the 2nd. I truly appreciate your compliment though.

I like being complimented in any way. Not that I would ever get 'hot' or 'beautiful'. I've had 'cute' though, I like it.

I grew up one of those. Only I wasn't translucent, I was pink-skinned with a nasty blonde combover most of the time. And I wasn't bossy, I was shy and girly and didn't understand why the word fag had my picture on the side of it in the dictionary re: Does Anyone Ever Just Need To Be Told They're Cute?

Good times indeed.

I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)

Yeah I find compliments to be somewhat unsettling. If someone says something nice about me, I can't help but think there is some sort of hidden meaning behind what they are saying. I have zero self esteem though, so that might be part of the problem.
In my acting class this past semester, we had to make a list with things that were right and wrong with us. Many people's wrong list was way longer than their right list, including mine...
