re: Does Anyone Ever Just Need To Be Told They're Cute?

I completely agree. You don't want to beg, but sometimes you just need to be told you aren't unattractive. I need to be told I'm pretty a lot too.

Some people hate being called cute because they get called it so much. I get a mixture of a lot of things (cute not so much, more like hot or beautiful) and I hate being called hot most of the time. I think its rather duragatory to me because it seems that all there is to me is what I look like. I hate that.

Sum, you shouldn't have to ask us, I was actually reading another thread in which you posted and thought to myself that you were cute before I got to this one. I'll have to agree with TheatreDiva and say you are one of the most genuine people here. Not many people would be able to ask a question like this one and not sound really needy and annoying.

I need to be told that at least once every fifteen minutes or I collapse into a sobbing heap of depressed protoplasm.
Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

I don't think I need to be told I'm cute, but sometimes it doesn't hurt since I forget I'm the slightest bit attractive often, lol. I mean people online tell me I'm cute all the time but half the time I don't believe them, but that's just me. I don't get it in person unless I'm on a date.
I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)

I know bway, hehe. Thank God for PMs and such.

"As If I would EVER have a "You're hot!" thread anywhere in the "real" world..." if I, along with a few others, from this board lived nearer to you , you'd have one of those re: Does Anyone Ever Just Need To Be Told They're Cute? However that may be accomplished but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it :-p

You guys are...toot sweet.
And cute. I have met TONS of people off this website. Nary a one but wasn't cute. Some were just absolutely, drop-dead gorgeous people. Inside and outside. I have no reason to doubt that you're all the same way.

re: Does Anyone Ever Just Need To Be Told They're Cute?

I started a thread out of frustration here last year asking what guys mean when they call a girl a "cutie". I thought ~ff~'s post was so true, and it's appropriate to re-post it here. re: Does Anyone Ever Just Need To Be Told They're Cute?

I feel bad for straight guys.
Girls are complicated.
There are three really common words that are used to describe attractive people:

Beautiful. Cute. Hot.

Almost every female that I have discussed this with is offended by one of the three words above, even though they are all generally used as compliments.
If a girl who thinks of herself as "hot" is called "cute", she might start breathing fire.

And sometimes, the people who are most offended are the ones who are like picture-perfect examples of the word.

I have a gorgeous, friend who does modelling and who HATES being called BEAUTIFUL.
I have a tiny, adorable friend who HATES being called CUTE.
I have a sexual, skanky-clothes-wearing friend who HATES being called HOT.

There's really no rhyme or reason to it.

And God help the man that refers to a woman as "PRETTY".
Now personally, the word doesn't bother me at all.
But I have met several girls that somehow abhor that word.

So really, I guess just think of all three of the words as a compliment, because that's almost always the spirit in which they are intended.

It is so uplifting to be called "cute"!
"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien

I rather be with someone interesting than someone attractive.

And sometimes finding someone interesting MAKES them attractive.

First off, Broomstick Boy needs to relize that he is some HOT stuff!lol!re: Does Anyone Ever Just Need To Be Told They're Cute? Second, I get told that I'm cute from some ppl, its always girls(with the exception of 2 or 3 guys) so its nice. But since I'm not straight, its all THAT great. So basiclly, I get told that I am, with is awsome, but not exactly from the ppl I'd like to hear it from.

Thanks guys! You're all so sweet. I love how we end up defining the personalities of people according to their belief regarding a single word.

re: Does Anyone Ever Just Need To Be Told They're Cute?

Heh. I pretty much never get comments on my physical appearance. I get the "You're so much smarter than me"s and the "You're such a good artist (or 'drawer')"s and every once in a while, "I like your outfit," but never just "You're pretty/beautiful/cute." It would be a nice change, but I don't complain...

If one more person asks me if I'm Eric Clapton, I'll cry. I've had people follow me into public bathrooms to ask me if I'm Eric Clapton. Upstairs at the Duplex some guy insisted I WAS Clapton It's very difficult to urinate under those circumstances.
