Does the majority that post here on the OT board have any interest in Broadway anymore? — Page 2

Seasonal fluctuations -- the season is over

I love Broadway more than ever, but I'm with the majority who've already commented. I read the other board occasionally, when it gets slow over here, but I rarely post, unless I just can't help myself, and then I usually regret it.

Seasonal fluctuations -- the season is over

I began to turn away from the MB when I read threads titled "Les Miz" and when you'd open it, it would say "Anyone know what this show is about?"
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

I only go to the main board to piss off those Wicked freaks.

The threads all seem to be repeating themselves with the most mindless information.

I did see a thread I thought I could contribute to..."For Make-up Designers or Experts..." and, of course, when I opened it, it was asking about how to do the Wicked make-up.

I screamed so loud I scared my cats.

I'm with Diva on this one. I participate occassionally on the Theatre board, but all those Wicked threads are out of control. There are only so many Wicked posters one can block (which I have). If I were in charge of this board any new Wicked related thread would be zapped!

Seasonal fluctuations -- the season is over

I am on the same boat as almost everyone who has commented... I visit occassionally, but find it difficult to comment when I don't get to see most of the shows on B'way myself. And I don't get SO involved as to needing to know who's on when, etc.

Seasonal fluctuations -- the season is over

I still love theatre and Broadway, but I like to goof off on the OT board whereas it feels like the main board is more serious. Plus, I don't get to see a lot of shows, so I don't have much to contribute there.
A most ingenious paradox.

Seasonal fluctuations -- the season is over

I was feeling guilty about forgeting the MB, so I just went over for a visit. Forget it. The same tired threads as were there the last time I visited. maybe when the 2006 season arrives, the board will be revitlized.

I did notice a lot of frequent posts by people I've never heard of before. I guess there are posters who never visit the OT either.

I know some people are a little afraid (for lack of a better word) of the OT board...

I check the main board every day, but I do not always post there. I like being in touch with the theater community very much. I live in CT so I am not in New York as often as I would like to. I have taken an interest in the Regional Board for my area lately. However, I feel that it could better represent CT a bit better since it is mainly Boston BWY news. As for the OT board? I just have fun here and I like the people.

I do check the main board..... but I seldom post. It's a rare event that I find something worth commenting on.

Alas, I've found myself sticking more with the OT board ever since PIAZZA has developed a cult following. The wild adorations and the thinly veiled 'Well...if you don't like it, you obviously don't GET serious musicals' subtext is enough to make me live in a well of hate.

Seasonal fluctuations -- the season is over

I see a lot of people in this thread that are the main people I enjoy discussing theatre. And none of us seem to enjoy discussing it in the one place we should be able to.

Is there any possibility that we turn the threads around? Is there any chance that we can start worthwhile threads--and somehow ignore the posts that make us want to head back to the OT board? Can we take a "Les Miz--what is it" thread and share our memories of Les Miz, ignoring the tone of the original poster. To have broadwaydiva ignore the Wicked makeup question and do tell us about how one becomes a make up artist or wardrobe, etc.?

What do we think?

Ironically--THIS thread has been the most interesting theatre thread we've had in a while. Seasonal fluctuations -- the season is over

We could try, but there are so many young kids on that board. I don't mean college students, I mean middle and high school students. Do we have the patience?

Seasonal fluctuations -- the season is over

I didn't realise there was an OT board till about 2 weeks after i became a member...
Then, I went through phases, switching back and forth...
But, shameless, you're right...Too many kids...inexperienced kids who just became involved in the theatre because they either just saw their first show (Wicked) or were in their first show (My Fair Lady)
(The latter was from my experience...I'm not saying that they all do MFL...but, you know what I mean...

Besides, The OT board is so much more fun...we can joke adultingly, and even the older teens get it.

I feel bad in wanting to exclude them because I think it's great that they love Broadway, even if it is due solely to Wicked, but most (not all Aigoo) have the mentality of teeny boppers.

We've managed to run most off them off the OT board, maybe we can do the same on the MB.

OK...I just tried. It's about an old-school musical and spousal abuse. Let's see what happens. Feel free to post.
