I gave up trying yesterday afternoon, but tried at around 10:30pm last night. I was able to get right through on apple.com and was able to purchase the phone if I wanted, but I was not able to change anything on my AT&T account (before I resign a contract I was to lower minutes, blah blah) so I couldn't do it there. So I logged onto AT&T itself but it was still down and not allowing any access to info.

Hmmm, I'm not sure. I did it at the AT&T store. They did the orders manually since the system was down but I got a receipt emailed to me last night and checked my bank account and the money was taken out.

Oh, so if you pre-ordered the iPhone, you had to pay now. But if you reserved it to pick up in the store, you did not.

So confusing! And, I don't see anywhere on apple.com where I can confirm. I just have the email.

What will be will be. I'd just prefer not to wait in line on the 24th to find I'm not getting one after all.

Well I called AT&T just now to ask how I'm going to get the phone and was told that I'll get an email when the shipment has arrived in the store and I can just go pick it up then and it will be on hold for me. So I don't know what to tell you, JRB. I would call one of the stores just to ask what you should do because the last thing you want is to wait hours in line when you don't have to.

I did it thru the app to pick up at the Apple store. The app has a tab called "Reservations" and it says my order will be there on the 24th for pick up before the close of business that day. I didn't pay for it yet.

And Borstal's right, I am soooooooooo Katharine Ross with this. I hope this means when I return from getting the phone, a young Sam Elliot will be waiting for me.

My app says they are no longer taking reservations as opposed to what yours says, Namo.

Guess I better get there at the crack of dawn to be safe. Why I feel I need it ASAP is scaring me. It's almost as bad as my craving for Frappucinos and Jason Statham.

All I have is an email saying that I have one reserved, but who the heck knows? I'm just debating getting it early tomorrow or at a human time of day sometimes in July.

I hope none of the early adopters like to hold the phone in their left hand while talking. Apparenlty it blocks the external antenna and drops calls. As if you don't get enough dropped calls from AT&T's lousy service.
iPhone 4 not for leftys.

We downloaded the new 4.0 OS last night and love it. The improvements to the camera are wonderful and the folders are great. iBooks came with Winnie The Pooh.

Picked mine up about 20 minutes ago! I was worried about how long the line would be, but it only took me about 40 minutes to get through it. Not bad at all. Kudos to the Apple store by me. The video recording is beautiful, btw! Haven't really had a chance to play with it yet. I'm syncing it to my iTunes now.
