******SPOILERS******

I found it interesting that the actor who played Levinson's footman was also the same actor who played Patrick Crawley in season 2. I don't think it has anything to do with the story. The producers may have thought since his face was bandaged and covered no one notice. It is however the same actor. Could this be a character who keeps bringing himself into the Crawley environment by choice or just a casting coincidence?

Very light and sweet episode. Sort of wipes the slate clean for new story lines for season 5.

I did not pick up it was the same actor at all. You might be on to something. :)

@romantico.

I just had to go back and play the part from last night to make sure I had the Levinson Valets name, Character is Ethan Slade played by Michael Benz in the closing credits. The actor who played Patrick Gordon/Crawley was played by Trevor White.

Sad to say I liked where you were going with the mystery but not the same actor.

Really? I got that from a message board where a couple people said it was the same actor. Good to know for sure. It did sound like Patrick because I recall at the time thinking he did not have a British accent.Thanks for checking. You know, this is one plot hole that has really bugged me for years. I thought they were going somewhere by introducing this character as Patrick and would eventually come back to it. Oh well.

I thought the Christmas episode had a feeble, derivative storyline that was tediously drawn out to fill the space in the schedules. There were some peripheral points of interest, particularly in the last half hour but how disappointing was it that Shirley's great line had nothing to do with the plot lines that surrounded it; it was like she was there for some, otherwise purposeless, sabre-rattling.

I've successfully avoided this thread - and happily know very little about what is going to unfold this season.

I just know that I can't WAIT for 9pm tonight!
Happy Downton Day for those of us watching Season 4 tonight.
