Um. Apparently he ran off to Argentina with a woman he met through a Christian group and is divorcing his wife to be with her. He is resigning as governor and will not be running for president.
I am speechless.

and let's hear it for the gop: when we go down in flames it is something to see. no half assing it, man. disappears to go spend father's day with his argentinian mistress. you know he's got a kid down there. she probably gave him the old, "you can't even spend father's day with your own child?" which sound much worse in spanish.

I like Cox - I will tune in when I know she is going to be on Rachel's show.
I do feel sorry for his wife and family. They deserve better than this. And, after the mess subsides, I hope his wife and children find some sense of all this.
I don't find this one as amazingly outstanding as Ensign - who got all sanctimonious about Clinton's shenanigans.
The sad truth is many of us would not care so much if they did not go throwing their family values into everyone's business.

There seems to be enough ire on the GOP side in SC that he could be impeached for the way he handled the last week. He and his Lt Gov don't see eye-to-eye on much. The Lt Gov is GOP, but in SC they don't run as a ticket, so he wasn't picked by Sanford.

Sorry Brian, I merely meant there is NO WAY he survives this with his governorship intact. He may think this puts an end to it all but it's just begun. It won't be over till he's out of office.

I have to disagree. A sitting governor going AWOL to Argentina over Father's Day weekend to meet with his mistress, leaving his wife and four kids behind? That wins.
