No...not THAT Edwards.
Texas Congressman Chet Edwards.
Both Drudge and Politico are reporting that Edwards is a "finalist."
I didn't know a lot about him, but I'm amused that his district includes Crawford and that he's the ONLY Texan who voted against the DOMA.

It certainly would be an interesting "WHat?" pick.
He is solid congressman.
I'll hold until the real annoucement though, still a possible head fake from the Obamster.
ETA: I removed it.
Edwards is not a Senator.

Now this would certainly be a surprise worthy of the buildup obama has been trying to create with his coy behavior recently. i don't know if its a GOOD pick as I know nothing about Chet Edwards, but if he voted again DOMA, he's good in my book.
The positive is that he is enough an unknown to be considered an "outsider" buy the majority of Americans which gels with his campaign message.
Chet Edwards? Progressive? REALLY?
Despite the DOMA vote, he did vote FOR the federal marriage amendment.
Eh, for Texas.
Remember, there are some good Texans now.
Lol, Sheila Jackson Lee, Senfronia Thompson, (eta) Molly Ivins, Ann Richards and even former (Republican!) Houston mayor Kathy Whitmire are my idea of Texas progressives.
Chet Edwards? Against ENDA, for the FMA, for the Patriot Act...surely not Obama's choice.

hilarious.
bammy can't have anyone on the ticket who even approaches him in stature so he picks a nobody from texas. the press plays "who is edwards" and by the time they get up to speed it's october. meanwhile it does absolutely nothing to improve the ticket and pisses off the more established names.
he's arrogant enough to think that he wins no matter who he chooses and that there's no consequences to anything he does. oh bammy. you poor naive narcissist. i almost feel bad for the guy. but not really.
And there have been for a while, Patronus!
last minute feint by the bambots, cal? this guy fits his criteria to a "t" for texas.
"can this person help me govern? are they going to be an effective partner in creating the kind of economic opportunity here at home and guiding us through some dangerous waters internationally?" obama said.
the likely democratic nominee also said he wanted "somebody who is going to be able to challenge my thinking and not simply be a 'yes person' when it comes to policymaking."
Whatever, whoever, bring on the blasted choice.
I think the choice is going to be Eric Cartman's father.
And McCain's will be the one who shot Mr. Burns.
tomorrow, smarty, tomorrow. no one would drop their veep choice on a friday afternoon. would they? what the heck would that say after this huge build-up? maybe they'll text the choice out today with a witness for the prosecution/crying game admonition to supporters not to tell.
Eric's mom for Veep!

Good God, papa, you've become so annoying and predictable. We ALL know by now how you feel about Obama, so why do you still have this need to make the same tired comments on every thread about politics?
and trekkie - as usual - contributes absolutely nothing to the thread.
DBillyP - Okay, more than one. I just meant one specific that Penguin knows. :)

What's your definition of "contributing", papa? Calling Obama 'bammy'?
There are at least two (and a half)!
Substantively, I think the choice of a congressperson would be an interesting (not necessarily in a positive way) choice. I mean, I could possibly get elected as a Rep in some places. That is just not good.
Do not take my thread about honest Christrian moral values and VPs and turning it into a God Damned****sucking pissing match!
And McCain's will be the one who shot Mr. Burns.
Maggie Simpson?

Despite the fact that Papa and I may not share the same politics, his comments are usually spot on. You don't want to admit it, but he's usually right.
