I have always been "Mr. Combine-Your-Similar-Threads" but I'd really like to pull out discussion about 4/6's American Idol, because I think it deserves it's own topic.
I felt worse for Elton John than anyone else, because he had to say somewhat nice things about people who had just butchered his music.
Best to Worst:
1. Jennifer Hudson (She closed the show with panache)
2. George Huff (with the exception of the squatting, he was fab)
3. Jasmine Trias (she hit a couple of clunkers, but overall, good style)
4. Fantasia Barrion (I don't think the world needs a second Macy Gray, the hype is a little much. But she was OK)
5. La Toya London (I can't remember her, so she couldn't have been that bad, or that good)
6. Diana DeGarmo (She's got spunk, and maybe hasn't found her place yet, but this perf. was mediocre)
7. Camile Velasco (She tried.)
8. Jon Peter Lewis (What is up with that arm-wave dance he did? Charisma was key last night, especially if you couldn't pull of the song. Come on JPL, do the underwear ad, and then go to grad school)
9. John Stevens (When is Sinatra Night happening? Everyone has a style, but until Mike Buble' is on AI, I don't think that this is the right venue. Brothers from my childhood town, so I thought I'd support him, but this too must come to an end.)
for reference (cause I don't know all of their name/faces even now): http://www.idolonfox.com/contestants/
Oh for God's sake people. Post.
I feel like fricken Frankenstein here.

I totally agree. For 16, Diana can sing! Jennifer blew the house DOWN!! She sang Circle of Life amazingly!
If Big Red is still standing after tonight, the fix is definitely in. He was horrific last night.
Am I the only person in America who finds it difficult to watch George Huff? I mean, I like his voice and the fact he is so obviously gay, but that BOUNCING has to stop. No matter what song he's singing, he's up there bouncing. STOP IT for the love of Mary. I do think he turned an Elton song into a style he is comfortable with. Like that insipid Paula says: "you made it your own and you were having fun. Good for you."
But please, Paula, tell him to stop bouncing. It sloshes the vodka in my stomach around too much.
Zola, yes, you ARE the only one who is bothered by the bouncing. I find it adorable!!! And what makes you think George is gay? Not that it matters when it comes t ohis singing ability, I just thought that was an odd comment for you to make.
If John doesn't go tonight, I think i'll have to smash my tv.
I feel bad for the camera people.
Left to right is fine, but comeon, left/right/up/down... that's challenging to the studio crew.
Princess--gaydar goes off with George
reposting my list:
1. Jennifer Hudson - fierce tonight!
2. Fantasia
3. George Huff
4. Latoya
5. Diana
6. Jasmine
7. JPL - he needs to go
8. Jon - he SUCKS
9. Camille -- she SUCKS
Fantasia sounds a titch like Macy Gray--after that the comparison ends.
I think George's bouncing is good when it's right for the song--it's really cute and looks good on camera.
Ok, I'm glad to chime in here! First of all, I think Elton John's a genius, and has a very distinctive voice. It would be impossible for anyone else to really do justice to his songs. No one last night did it for me, but here's my opinion- Fantasia does at times sound like Macy, but last night she sounded too much like Nell Campbell with the high pitched shrieking for an Elton John song. She's got a lot going for her, I actually like Fantasia, but I don't think her style is right for this competition.
George is good and likeable, but a tad too perky for my taste (I'm really picking here).
Camile has something really interesting going for her. Her voice and her appearance have a great, dark sexuality to them, but she just doesn't know how to work it yet. She won't win.
La Toya's ok, but nothing unique.
Red sucked so bad last night. He should go but probably won't because of the cute factor.
I don't know who I want to win at this point.
I'm going to work on my bounce tolerance, Princess, because I really like Huff the magic dragon. But, let me tell you he is gayer than Gay Gayerson. Not as gay as Gay Clay though.
Am I getting my signals crossed or is he gay, boys?

I would definitely say George was gay. Anyway, I thought that Jennifer was incredible last night. The best performance by anyone yet, I thought.
Jon Peter Lewis this boy.....I can't I can't even begin to describe my awe in him getting voted thru at all. please stop the madness on him.
John Stevens now this boy was bad last night but I felt so bad for him cause I am PMSing and his face made me want to cry since I knew the week before he knew she should have been in the bottom 3 and he was not. So he knows it was bad but I had to feel a little sad for him.
But Mr. Lewis...if he is NOT in the bottom 3 then there is no hope for this competition.

Oh George is gay alright and I think he is going to win as well. The online polls put him only second to Latoya. As IDOL is as much a popularity contest as it is a singing competition, his warmth and personality might trump Latoya's voice.
While Jon Stevens, Jon Peter and Camille were predictably awful, I think Diana was truly terrible last night. I don't care for her performing style or voice, but she should have been able to pull off I'm Still Standing. You could only hear and understand her during the chorus. The rest of the song she sounded out of breath and was unintelligible. I think the bottom three will chosen from these four, with two of them more likely to be Diana and Camille than both guys and Camille.
Princess, you are living in a dream world, darlin'!!!! Trust me--I don't want either of them. Wanting someone has nothing to do with whether or not you think they are gay--believe me. I think it is more likely that you (like Clay's fans) want to believe he is straight.

American Idol is in trouble this season. And yes; I know the ratings are through the roof. But they are all horrible this year. At this point last season they even had 2 cd's out. It is not happening this year. And Jennifer Hudson was great last night.. but honestly.....taking into account her previous performances.. would you buy her record??? And that Fantasia girl is starting to wear thin. The men should all be eliminated. They are all terrible.

Don't discount the power of gaydar. The validity of gaydar, like some mystic powers, just can't be explained.
It's like the Force!
The Gay Side clouds everything.....
don't say "gay"!!! you might offend somebody!!!
When I say "GAY" I mean "HAPPY"!
oh... whew!!! thanks for clearing that up! LOL!
Clarification ROCKS!!! HAHA!
But serious now and back on topic, who's with me on taking the red-eye out to LA and getting rid of John Stevens ourselves?
His face last night was priceless, he should be a man and just stand up and say, "I'm gone, Thank You and Goodbye!"
So Camile got voted off last night? Was she the one who seemed so nervous every time? John Stevens is interesting, from the very first audition I said "hes going to make the final five" maybe not because he is the best performer- but America realllly likes him. He's the underdog, hes unique and he's a cutie pie. I doubt he will win but I think he will go far:)
That was some coincidence that the bottom two last night were both from Hawaii. Could it be that they don't have the same hometown fan-base?
If I were Camile, I'd get my ass home and enjoy the beach in Maui.

um, what show are you watching hun? there are about SEVEN amazing singers left, and the Soun cd is coming out next Tuesday. Jennifer has never given a weak performance, and i'd buy her cd tomorrow in a heartbeat. Fantasia has a classic Diva star attitude, I love it!! shes really got It and i'll ne buying her cd too. And, don't get rid of ALL the guys, because George is still great!! (but i still say he;s stright! =P
Once John Stevens is gone, the competition can get serious.
