Chicago- I was just thinking that...lol

Adam- you seem very mature for 16. Congratulations and happy birthday.

Goodnight

People like you are the reason I'm on medication.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

No, not being a drama queen. Are you being a backwoods redneck? We can exchange insults all day but I prefer to just speak honestly to you.
I, personally, would prefer to have a president who can actually think on his own and formulate responses on his own (have you ever seen the man expound on his own, without written responses?) as well as be able to scribble on a page with passable grammar. That's not asking for too much.
As for accepting people for what they do and say, I don't think anyone is not doing that here. The problem is that grammar and its continual downward spiral is of GREAT interest to thinking people in this country and we would like to put pressure on the wound...maybe even sew it up and prevent more bleeding. I have seen some papers a friend of mine who teaches has had to grade. It is beyond shameful.
And then our prez cuts education spending in favor of upping the military budget. To which I say, "woo woo."

bwaysinger, don't worry, regarding your second comment. I think someone is totally missing the point of this thread. This isn't about accepting people and accepting yourself - it's friendly advice about how to present yourself so you earn respect and people can appreciate what you have to say.

Well, Tiff, I just meant to describe the stupidity of people...the dems complained because the repubs yelled at them for ripping down republican posters...

tell me where the logic is in that....

Anyway,

I must go to bed - early morning tomorrow!

Peace out, and read my review about Andre's show on the main board

Peace

I think the President can think on his own, to an extent. Doesn't mean I have to like what he thinks.

The pen for a Palm Pilot is called a stylus. (Yes, I'm the queen of the geeks.)

And my final word on the subject of this thread, barring an interesting counter-argument, is this- if you really think that a post rife with misspellings, incorrect grammar, and/or IM-speak is perfectly acceptable, it reflects on you. Think about that.

Bway singer, we're making progress because I can agree with the middle section of your response regarding the sad affair of writing abilities from our students today. I just don't think the boards are a place that require perfect spelling and grammar. Near perfect would be nice, however re: English Lessons

Ahhh...I'm floating now. As you may know, I have a little problem in which I need to hear it to feel appreciated.
English is my favorite subject, and all of my friends just don't understand how I can like it.

Yes, I'm *only* :-p 16, but Type_A_Tiff, I don't think I will be allowed to drive at this point; I may stalk Adam Pascal when he comes back to Westchester after the Rent movie!

I live in Rockland!

And, excuse me, you didn't say thanks for my song! Did you not understand it!

Adamaddict, there's nothing wrong with seeking anonymous virtual validation once in a while! (So you're gonna stalk Adam Pascal huh? Are you gonna, like, walk around town to find him? re: English Lessons)

Plum, it's funny because the person in question here is preaching about accepting others with differing viewpoints and not passing judgment unless you are perfect, yet she has not failed to pass judgment and criticize me and several others on here while taking entirely out of context what we had to say. Hello pot? You're black!

Chicago, I'm not demanding people have perfect grammar. I am a big literophile and read like a demon, I have a BA in English and I still make grammatical errors in addition to typos (although I did type 98 words per minute with no mistakes on my last typing test, thank you very much).
The issue at hand about grammar here is that, if you can demand it of your scholastic writing, why would you suddenly be lax here? Again, I say typos are one thing but continual errors from laziness are simply beyond me if you're going to attempt to be better when you're writing for academia.

YYYUp! Errr...this feels not safe, I will PM you re: English Lessons

And THANKS for the song! You wanna know something funny? I don't know what a param is!

Seriously guys, this made my whole day. I was about to sign off feeling depressed, 'cause of my problem of feeling unappreciated when no one responds to my o so thoughtful posts, but YAY!

Well, I don't mind people being lax, but I expect some form of syntax.

My English prof is hardcore grammar and I love it!

Bwaysinger - have you heard of/read Sin and Syntax?

It's one of my textbooks. On some things, my prof disagrees with the book, for the most part she loves it. Check it out, lol.

It's OK Adam - I wrote a nice review for Andre's show and only two people responded to the review...how sad!

BSo, sweetie, believe it or not, even after all of your concentrated Phantom Chicken spam attacks of random posts on a million of these threads, brace yourself about this...Not all of these posts revolve around you. re: English Lessons And believe it or not, there are many who do not know about the Raggy situation(s), nor is this the time or place to hash it out. I actually think I've been quite civil to the bugger tonight, haven't I? (Am I going soft?)

ETA: Funnily enough, I just received a PM from someone thinking I was alluding to HER (as in, the sender)! So the RQP situation is certainly not that high profile.

bwaysinger, what do you do with a BA in English? (Only partially a joke - I just want to know that I won't be entirely hopeless and on social assistance once I finish my BA this term!)

Well, that one post was directed to you...but I'm not in the mood to discuss this, I was just trying to sum up your last post...forget it though. And I did not rehash anything, if no one understands, let it be.

Oh, and a PARAM (among one definition) is a string of supercomputers....

Type, it wouldn't be the first time I've stalked him re: English Lessons. However, the two long-awaited prescious times have been at more common fangirl places like the stage door and Joe's Pub.

Nope, "we" meaning you and I (bso and Tiff)

And, Em, I think I take the cake (mmmm....cake) for addicts....

I drove 2 hrs home for one night to see...

But I think you probably have more of an addiction - since mine started late....

"And believe it or not, there are many who do not know about the Raggy situation(s), nor is this the time or place to hash it out."

And although, this not the time or place to bring the Raggy situation up, Tiff still must get her way by forcing it in somehow or another. It's a wonder how people try to get attention.

I tell ya it's true- People who are incompetant about themselves or have low self-esteem often feel the need to bring others down to make themselves feel superior.

I have low self esteem and often I am incompetant, but it sure doesn't seem to effect me so much that I feel I need to harass others in a negative way for attention.

People like you are the reason I'm on medication.
