I've never heard, "people who are incompetant about themselves."

Guess we learn something new EVERY DAY.

Em, when you start spelling every word in every posts correctly, you may have the award....but I swear I'll eat it soon..... Updated On: 2/9/05 at 12:59 AM

Holy Christ, are you for real?? I did NOT bring up your psychotic situation (and I mean that literally), in fact, someone else did and I JUST said that "nor is this the time or place to hash it out," which you JUST quoted me on. Seriously, I cannot believe you. I did NOT attack you on this thread but you are a hypocrite at the same time by trying to make negative posts to get attention, AND have proven my point. So thank you.

And weren't you about to go to bed? Or did you accidentally pop another upper?

Tiff, that last line made me laugh.

And it was me, I guess, that brought it up....but it was over until you came back in here.

BSo, don't bother making excuses. You don't need to. The point is I was disagreeing with Raggy said while not even addressing her, much less posting gratuitous negativity towards her (in fact, I just said that I didn't think this was the place to hash it out), and she got defensive and disproved her own points by jumping to conclusions and making premature judgments to validate her own pissy existence.

It's funny because she jumped on me for hashing this out BECAUSE I made a post saying that this wasn't the time to hash this out and had left it at that!

Wow, the idiocity of some people. (See, she shouldn't have jumped the shark while I was still NOT ADDRESSING HER!! Talk about being a counterexample to your own argument.)

I'm actually shaking my head in disbelief.

Good night Bso

oh- Lord help these people! I was in fact about to go to bed but since I don't take illegal drugs (which it seems you were refering to) I happened to still be online.

But, really, I think you people are beyond help; and I am not kidding at all. It's sickening. I just wish I could show these posts you all write to some people and see what they have to say...I really think you need to think before you type. I'm just not going to go to the effort of showing people these stupid posts when I have better, more important things to talk about. But, don't think I am not showing them because I am embaressed; trust me, I have showed plenty of people already and they ask me "Where did you find these people? Are they from the ghetto-- or worse?" Hey- I'm not lying. You can tell me (and make up if you so choose) all the stories about how you've showed people and what people thought about the posts. I know that you guys (a certain few of you in general- *if you think it's you then it probably is*) have some issues you need to deal with (as do I, but at least I admit it) and until then...rationalizing with you is not going to happen.

Tiff: As far as I can say to you, what you do with a BA in English is go to graduate school and get an equally worthless MFA! Then, you move to NYC, work as an actor for a bit, find the well has dried up, temp a LOT and start looking for a career change. :)
Or you could, you know, do something else.
Chicago: I don't know what to tell you...maybe you should consider being a democrat. It's way more fun here. We don't hold the moral high ground in America but the rest of the world certainly agrees with us. :)

"You can tell me (and make up if you so choose) all the stories about how you've showed people and what people thought about the posts."

And that, my dear, made absolutely no sense, so perhaps YOU should take your own advice when you say: "I really think you need to think before you type."

And from what I've been able to decipher from that rant of incoherency, I'll just have you know that I do NOT need to "make up" stories about how I've "showed people". It's not necessary.

And can I just say how funny it is that you say "I'm just not going to go to the effort of showing people these stupid posts when I have better, more important things to talk about."---yet, your very next sentence is "trust me, I have showed plenty of people already." So thank you for the laugh, and for proving my point while making yourself look like the proverbial doorknob.

Yet you have succeeded to make a point. You certainly have not chosen to rationalize for ANY dispute you have with oterhs, and instead decide to make condescending remarks and personal attacks instead of listening to what the other has to say and either agreeing or RESPECTFULLY refuting. So you, kid, are indeed calling the kettle black.

Oh, and just wanted to add: I will be the first to admit I have baggage. Everyone does. But before you get on THAT high horse about needing serious help, I just wanted to leave you with these parting words: The cast of Avenue Q are not your friends. And I'm SURE you know what I'm referring to without me needing to show posts to people. Unlike your prior contradictory statements, I really DON'T feel the need to show your posts to anyone. Why make their IQs drop?

Yet you just replied.

Smarty.

Why don't you just stick your fingers in your ears and sing, "I can't heeeaaar you!", you rational, mature person, you.

But I suppose those uppers are fading and you're just getting too lazy to explain your post - either that, or you realize you're wrong.

Tiff, I had no idea you were not from the US (being the massive Ameri-centric that I am!)...but I have to tell you, in my job searching, I've found nothing BUT entry level...and, strangely enough, my years of temp work as assts (I've worked for VPs, buyers, managers, underwriters) have made me a bit overqualified for an entry level job. That means I'm hunting for mid-level work and that's where the pickins be slim.
Of course, if I wanted to start off as a junior copy editor for 18 grand a year, I could easily do that.
So, basically, no, you won't have that much of a problem finding a permanent job. And, actually, temp agencies are good ways to find temp-to-perm employment.

You have must be joking me! Little miss holier than thou is back on her high horse and spewing crap again. It would seem that as you continue to nit pick the regulars here and play the protagonist you continue you claim you are a victim. Listen young lady, go to a psychiatrist get some help. You obviously need it. It's amazing that for the most part everyone here gets along except you. As I have said before if you are the one screaming about everyone else being the problem, yet we all get along; of course save minor disagreements here and there. You need to look closer to home Raggy. You seem to be the sole individual with a problem here. You have an inferiority complex or something, as you seem to think that everyone is always ganging up on you.

You own stupidity brings it on. When we attempt to hold a civilized conversation, although we may have opposing view points you cry wolf. You start slinging mud and calling names. You aren't well liked here and that is your own fault, no one else is to blame. You can call us mean and heartless all you want, but at the end of the day the truth will be staring you in the face. At least those of us here have been adult enough to have the decency to address our issues with you directly and not via pm's to other board members.

We as a whole tend to ignore those posters that annoy us, yet even when we do you make personal attacks. Tiff was attempting to have an adult dicussion on this thread and is happened to disagree with you. This does not give you justification to attack her directly or indirectly, nor imply hostility towards the other posters you have "issues" with especially when they aren't even here.

Stop preaching long enough to realize you dont know it all. You need to take a good long look at yourself and realize you are not perfect either.

bwaysinger, thanks for the advice. Let's hope my visa application will go through once I apply. It's frustrating because I've got loads of work experience but I think it'll come down to my education, and really it seems like you can't do much with a BA in anything! (Except perhaps Economics.) What types of qualifications have you found temp agencies are looking for? I used to work for a temp agency here in Vancouver and I found that most of the work was mindless robot duties, but I'll do anything to get my foot in the NYC door!

Tiff, mindless robot skills are always a plus! Given what I'm doing now, they'd cut down their profit loss if they just hired a monkey.
However, most temp agencies will look for different skills based on what you want to show them. I typically apply as an admin asst. type person and offer to test on basic computer skills. I end up taking a typing test (like the one where I did 98 wpm with no errors, a personal high!), Word, Excel, PowerPoint...and then any other programs which you feel you might want to test (like Unix or Corel or whatnot).
The real problem is that, like so many regular jobs, they often want you to have already had prior experience.
I am an exceptional typist. I do very fast formatting work on Word when necessary or, at worst, could be shown what to do once and do it from then on. However, since I do not have 2+ years of previous experience, I cannot for the life of me get a job as a word processor in a legal firm. That's typical.
However, I can assist a vice president in an insurance company. Whatever, the pay's good. :)

Try that!

Duly noted. I'll be checking those out shortly.

Well, I've got to run. My LSAT is in 4 days and I've got to start cramming. If things go as I hope, I'll be struggling in NYC as an articling law student and not in the temp job pool! It's been great talking to you and I'll keep in mind the information you've given me!

Did I miss how typing '2' saves a noticeable amount of time compared to typing 'too?' I mean, sure, I type fast but do I type THAT fast that there are people missing out on life opportunities typing out 'you are' instead of using 'UR?'

I'd say Raggy Q Poo that your low self esteem is completely justified.
