Definitely I let people out before I go in.
The worst is on the subway in NYC, followed closely by elevators and buses.

Posted: 5/11/06 at 2:16pmI hate to point a finger, but I see it happening on DC's subway when the tourists are in town. They crowd around the door and push their way in - completely ignoring the people waiting to get off on the other side of that door. About the only time I see commuter's do it (during rush hour) is when they don't realize someone else is coming off the train and they start to go in. More times than not you'll hear a 'sorry'.
A click for life.

Posted: 5/11/06 at 2:16pmDoes it not make sense to let folks out first? This so falls under the "I hate dumb people"

Along the same lines as this, my biggest pet peeve (in general and on the subway) is when you're traveling at rush hour, and everyone is standing really close together - but everyone is bunched at the door, because people refuse to look behind them or around them and see that in the middle of the train, there are often big holes they can move to to allow people to actually fit onto the car.
On several occasions, I've asked people to move over. Some refuse, and others do it then glare at me. Is it such an evil request? It's just common sense! People are SO STUPID.

Posted: 5/11/06 at 2:23pmCalvin, I also "accidently" bump people with whatever I'm carrying. it just drives me crazy how rude these people are.

Everyone now....... "I HATE DUMB PEOPLE!!" Go ahead scream it at the top of our lungs. You won't believe how good you will feel.

I must dissagree, I always feel awkward when people hold the door open for me (probably because I'm shy around people I don't know). I'd rather just open it myself. I try to say thank you but sometimes it's so soft that the person most likely doesn't hear it.

Glory be!
Didnt we have a thread like this recently?
I think I remember stating that my obituary will likely read "Doodle was a subway vigilante, who died while glaring at the wrong person whose backpack was digging in his side."

Posted: 5/11/06 at 2:30pmThe only time I wack people is when they are walking down the street, more than one person acrosss, and there's not enough room for me to pass in the opposite direction. Almost no one moves over to let me pass. They want to walk abreast and take up the whole sidewalk. When this happens, I may just crash into them. I have no other choice except to walk in the street!

I often see that the ones pushing to get on the subway first are fighting to get a seat. I mean, come on. They've probably spent the past 8 hrs on their asses at work, or are on their way to do just that.
I can't STAND it.

RobbO, yes you are right, I do. And that's why I feel sorry for them when I wack into them. I send them flying-they never know what hit them!

Boobs-there's a great way to lose weight-be sick! I was sick this week and couldn't eat too much, although I tried! Remember you were sick a few weeks ago? Did you eat a lot?
Back to the topic-Undi-this very thing happened to me today too. I was in Gourmet Garage-another woman and I were approaching the checkout line at the same time, only I was a little closer. In an effort not to appear rude, I hesitated before I went on line, just to make sure she was okay with me going first. NOPE-she got on line ahead of me. It's no big deal but another example of lack of consideration.

Mamie--tourists on the DC metro are the worst! Not only do they crowd in front of the doors and push their way into the car, but when getting off stop 2 inches out of the door to look at their maps! I can't recall the number of times I've accidently run over little kids while getting off the train!
They also take up too much room on the sidewalk by all walking together. Two-way traffic people!!!
And they almost kill people when driving around DC's numerous traffic circles. But I won't fault them for that one. It took me a bit of practice to figure out how to navigate those.
#24re: Entry and exiting
Posted: 5/11/06 at 3:09pmEven worse are the ones who stop 2 inches off the end of an escalator.
