We saw a screening of this film last night. Whoa-I had never seen it. We were all yelling stuff out to the screen like Rocky Horror. Did anyone see this? The scene in the car when they got stuck was just like "There's a Light".
This film is all blood and gore, with hardly any dialogue. It was so gorey (is that a word) that we screamed. Anyway, the point is-this is going to be an off broadway musical. Can't imagine how this is going to work but if it's bad enough it could be good.
p.s. not shilling, it isn't necessary with this.

Posted: 9/8/06 at 10:02pmThey're turning this into a Broadway musical? They must be desperate for material.
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra
Salve, Salve Regina

Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
O clemens O pia

Posted: 9/8/06 at 10:08pmI love this movie, in all of its outrageous and gruesome glory. A classic.

Posted: 9/8/06 at 10:08pmOh, sorry. I didn't see the "off". Well, it certainly sounds interesting, to say the least. When I first learned of SWEENEY TODD, I thought that a musical about a barber who kills his customers and then has his lady friend bake their remains into pies sounded a bit off, if you pardon the pun.

Posted: 9/8/06 at 10:12pmUndi-I thought there were only two. I heard the show will incorporate the first two. I also heard they had to get thousands of plastic seat covers for the front rows.

I own the movie on DVD. I love it! Its scary, over-the-top fun. And on a related note, I just bought tickets to Evil Dead: The Musical. (There's a related thread about it on the main board) It's opening Off-Broadway at New World Stages in November. It looks like campy fun. The first two rows are designated the "Splatter Zone" and are discounted. I picked up two tickets for about $60 bucks (including service charge) as opposed to $132.00. I'm really looking forward to it. They have an 11PM performance on Friday and Saturday nights. (I'm seeing the 11PM show on the Saturday before Halloween. I imagine there's going to be a lot of audience participation. Hope it's good! The website is a lot of fun too!

Posted: 9/9/06 at 10:34amYes there ARE 3 films but # 3 would not fit. Remember it's set in a medieval time. I & II are mostly in the cabin so they connect well and that is how they did it in TO. It is Cheesy in a good way the sets often looking a bit deliberatly low budget( As was the film!) but the special effects w the bld are a HOOT.Also the opening w the Necromicron (sp?) If anyone is in the 1st 3 row, I'd recomend a green garbage bag poncho!

They have to be incoporating #3 because that is the film where he gets the chainsaw attatched to his arm, and thats on the poster.
But, I love the first two movies, but the third was was a major let down.

I am SO SEEING THIS. I shall insist upon a seat in the Splatter Zone, and I shall wear all white.

I suppose they could have rewritten large sections of the show but I do remember the chainsaw on his hand and him talking about his "boomstick" which is also the 3rd film. I think they just cherry picked w some of the more wellknown bits. Altho -
yes just as the 2nd film mores into the 3rd as its ending the musical does the same. ( oy my syntax!)

Posted: 9/10/06 at 11:42amI just sent an e-mail to Rick Domeier asking whether he plans on attending the musical. He's usually quite good about answering his mail personally.
