Posted: 1/15/06 at 12:47pmI'm going with PJ's predictions, except I now think that Philip Seymour Hoffman is going to get Best Actor Drama.

Posted: 1/15/06 at 12:49pmI feel like Heath will get the Globe for sure, but not necessarily the Oscar. I think Hoffman has a leg up on him there.
#6re: -FINAL GOLDEN GLOBE PREDICTIONS-
Posted: 1/15/06 at 12:51pmI agree. I'm feeling the Hoffman love. I think Felicity's going to clean up both here and at the Oscars.
#7re: -FINAL GOLDEN GLOBE PREDICTIONS-
Posted: 1/15/06 at 12:53pmI'm not making predictions, but I hope Felicity does as you say!

I think Johansson will win, for several reasons:
1) The Foreign Press seem to love the movie, which got little recognition anywhere else.
2) The definitely love her. They've nominated her four times in the past three years.

Over Williams, though? There's been so much press for her. I would say she's going to make a sweep (not deservedly...she was good, but not groundbreaking).
And in the Best Actress Drama category, I don't think there's any competition. Felicity will get it.

Over Williams, though?
I think so. Could be wrong. Since it's winning in every other category, I don't think they'll feel compelled to vote for Williams in that category (though, I thought she was much better than Johansson).

Agreed, she was much better.
But of course you can never really compare roles and say one actor was "better." That's what makes me laugh about these award ceremonies.

Posted: 1/15/06 at 1:06pmThat's a tough one. I'll go with Felicity but I'm probably wrong.
#14re: -FINAL GOLDEN GLOBE PREDICTIONS-
Posted: 1/15/06 at 1:10pmI think Reese has got Best Actress in the bag. She's unstoppable. Not sure why, though. She's wonderful in Walk the Line, but please tell me how she's better than Joan Allen or Felicity Huffman.
#15re: -FINAL GOLDEN GLOBE PREDICTIONS-
Posted: 1/15/06 at 1:22pmPlus it's barely a leading actress role in the first place. But yes, it's Reese's Oscar, almost by default.
#16re: -FINAL GOLDEN GLOBE PREDICTIONS-
Posted: 1/15/06 at 1:24pmI love Reese, and I hope she wins the Oscar.

I'm going to change my predictions in two categories...
Best Director: George Clooney
Best Supporting Actress: Michelle Williams. I don't think they'll resist the opportunity to see Heath and Michelle with matching statuettes.

#20re: -FINAL GOLDEN GLOBE PREDICTIONS-
Posted: 1/15/06 at 1:33pmI hope so, too. But, Clooney's definitely walking away with something, tomorrow night and on Oscar night.

Woah. I can't see Ang Lee losing. At all. I know they'll want Clooney to take home something, but I'm think it'll be Best Screenplay. Ang Lee and BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN are practically synonymous; the reason industry types and journalists even gave the film a chance is because Lee's name is attached to the project.
But what do I know. Maybe we'll all be surprised and Spielberg will steal it.
#22re: -FINAL GOLDEN GLOBE PREDICTIONS-
Posted: 1/15/06 at 1:37pmI disagree. They gave the film a chance because it's a wonderful film - not because ANG LEE, director of THE HULK, has his name attached...
#23re: -FINAL GOLDEN GLOBE PREDICTIONS-
Posted: 1/15/06 at 1:39pmThat's not fair. The Hulk wasn't really his fault and he also directed The Wedding Banquet, Eat Drink Man Woman, The Ice Storm and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

Yes, of course it's a wonderful film, but it wouldn't have gotten as far as it did (in both Venice and Toronto -- especially Toronto) if Ang Lee wasn't involved, even with two up-and-coming Hollywood actors. There have been lots and lots of fantastic (gay-themed) films overlooked before. Some of them deserving of the Big Prize. Remember GODS AND MONSTERS?
Most industry types probably think of CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON when they think of Ang Lee....
