Facebook's new "Chat" Feature

Anyone else log onto Facebook today to find a little "Facebook Chat" at the bottom of the screen? I was pretty quickly messaged by someone I had limited profiled, so I turned it off.

Pretty creepy/bulky/annoying?

Nope, as far as I know it's universal. I had the same thing happen to me, Cyco. It's just plain creepy (and superfluous, too!).

I don't have it on mine either. What browser are you using? I use Firefox with adblock, which generally tends to block stuff like that.

I don't haev it either, and I use Firefox. But typically, when it's blocking a pop-up, a little tanish/orangeish bar pops up at the top telling me it's blocked something.

Husk, I get that bar at the top for popups and downloads etc that firefox blocks. But I also have the adblock plus extension which blocks ads and interactive things in a page. I don't get the bar for those kinds of things; it just blocks them and I never know about it.

I don't see it either, but something disappeared from the top bar and I cannot figure out what it is. It used to have four words and now it just has three: Profile, Friends, and Inbox. I noticed something missing on Saturday but can't put my finger on it. Anyone?

Broadwaybaby -- "Networks" is missing from the top. It took me a little bit to notice what was missing too, because I don't think I ever used it.

But chat is still working on mine. I am using Firefox and it is not the result of some application. You guys can check out this page for more information:

Cyco, it's a mutual "friend" of ours, so I REALLY wouldn't be surprised.

I had just been ignoring messages, but this is getting annoying. I'm turning it off. Why are wall posts and messages and pokes not enough? Do we really need a fake AIM?

No Chat feature over here, either. Although I'm sick of the "People You May Know" feature. Generally if I know them and am not friends with them, there is a reason.

So basically it's just like AIM, right? Instant Messaging within Facebook.

I'm not getting it either, so I don't know what it's about. But yeah, the people you may know thing is stupid. If I wanted to be friends with those people, I would have added them already.
