re: Fads of The Past

I was a total addict in fifth grade. I loved the little short where they all went on vacation- does anyone remember that song? The vacation one?

DELPHINE!! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? I've had no one to discuss Le Mis with!

Munk, I HOPE those are things of the past.

re: Fads of The Past

I don't know they were called.
Anyone remember these things that were, like, 2 acrylic balls attached to cords attached to a ring or holder of some sort? and you would swing them and clack them together? and if you were REALLY good, you could clack them real fast and they'd hit each other both up and down?

re: Fads of The Past

Was anyone else into pogs? There was a stupid fad that I was totally obsessed with. XD I was definitely a Pokemon nerd, too. Or how about Beanie Babies? I still have all of mine.

They were called clackers. I had bruises on my hand because I would try to hit them up and down and then get nervous that I couldn't do it and not keeping it going the balls would hit my hand.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

OMG CLACKERS... I HAD 1000 POGS!!

re: Fads of The Past

Did anyone have those bright foam neon sticks that you threw back and forth but you could only catch it on one end that had a black area that signified where you could grab it? I think they were about 3 feet long. I remember having a guy come in and do a demonstration, but I can't remember what they are called for the life of me.
My avatar is a reminder to myself. I need lots of reminders...

Remember old TGIF with Sabrina The Teenage Witch and Boy Meets World, Family Matters, Sister Sister?

re: Fads of The Past

Girls used to wear Loves Baby Soft. They always stank up homeroom.

Girls used to wear flavored lip gloss: bubblegum, watermelon, root beer. We guys always tried to figure out how we could taste it without kissing a girl that was ugly.

I miss TGIF. I used to watch it all the time. You can still catch Sabrina on Teen Nick (Can't help it, still like watching it), Boy Meets World, and Sister, Sister on Disney, and Family Matters on tbs. Check local listings.

And pogs! Oh god. I had a ton of those. My younger bro and I used to collect them and play them.

Red pills kids had to chew to show them where they weren't brushing and where plaque had built up. Somebody made a ton of money off that idea because that red mess always stuck to your teeth whether you brushed hourly or once a year.

re: Fads of The Past

I also HOPE Ugg Boots are a fad of the past.

Maybe then the American Company that placed a copyright/patent on them will remove it...seeing as they are a PRACTICAL Australian invention that has nothing to do with fashionability. Maybe the profits can return to where they are supposed to now!

Noooo, the original TGIF! Full House, Perfect Strangers, Family Matters, Mr Belvedere, etc...that was the beginning of it all! I wish I could rewind myself back to 1988.

Stirrup pants, crimped hair, and oversized tshirts tied into a knot at the side with a clip (usually with a pair of spandex stirrup pants).
I miss the early 90s.

re: Fads of The Past

Stirrups were the most uncomplimentary pants ever. I had 5 pairs.

Hee, and if you didn't have jams or biker shorts in my elementary school, well there was just no use living. Slap bracelets too. I just bought one from my store, and it's just not the same.

re: Fads of The Past

My watch is a slap bracelet, they're making a comeback!! This one's a really nice white leather one though, who'd have thought?!

I was all about the beanie babies and Pogs....but what were the point of Pogs? I don't remember.

I also had those virtual pets too. And Tickle Me Elmo. That was a hot item.

re: Fads of The Past

I was SO FRIGGIN COOL in 5th grade with my slap bracelets. I had 2. One was neon green and one had a tiger print on it. Yep..the women were dripping off of me..........they loved my fashion sense. And my shoes.
