"Come open with your kiss
A door to secret bliss
and though there's danger waiting there...
we'll be in love - and we won't care"

Yeah, I guess that sends shivers, too. LOL!

Here's where you start!

There is danger in my loving you,
Danger in your letting me,
Danger in your not instantly
Abandoning and forgetting me.
Sweet danger!
Sweet danger!

Ooooh...I'm getting shivers too, Andy!

Here's where you start!

I love this quote: And, I just thought that a certain friend of mine could use a spoonful of courage right now... so, from Dorothy and the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodsman and the Lion... hope this brings a smile!

Cowardly Lion: Courage! What makes a king out of a slave? Courage! What makes the flag on the mast to wave? Courage! What makes the elephant charge his tusk in the misty mist, or the dusky dusk? What makes the muskrat guard his musk? Courage! What makes the sphinx the seventh wonder? Courage! What makes the dawn come up like thunder? Courage! What makes the Hottentot so hot? What puts the "ape" in apricot? What have they got that I ain't got?
Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman: Courage!
Cowardly Lion: You can say that again!

courage... Here's where you start!

"Two drifters off to see the world. There's such a lot of world to see. . ."

oh, and then there's this one. Perhaps my favorite...

Wizard of Oz: A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others.

Edit: That was supposed to have been the cowardly lion, not a flute of Prosecco... did I ruin the perfection of the post?

Cookie, that's perfect! Simply perfect!

I'll take that flute of Prosecco, please.

That is, if Addy and her courage-needing friend (or you, Cookie) don't want it...
#239

Here's where you start!

It was a perfect post either way, Cookie...

"Read what my medal says - "COURAGE"! Aint it the truth, AINT IT THE TRUTH!!"

A heart, a brain and courage, you got it all Mr. Hardy! Watch out, Betsy Booth has eyes for you.

Here's where you start!
I sing for myself. I sing when I want, whenever I want to, just for me. I sing for my own pleasure. Do you understand that?

Two of my favorite Judy lines from "Strike Up The Band!"

In the Library - "Scram Juliet."

On the sidewalk with Mickey - "Oh what a pal was Mary."

It's the delivery.
" ...the happiness in the tune convinces me that I'm not afraid."

Here's where you start!

BT,

Andy: But Betsy's just a child!

Besty: Me - a child!? See here Mr. Hardy, my mother just bought me an evening dress that simply has no visible means of support!!

Poor Judy - all of those awkward 'tween roles!

Fifteen thousand times a day,
I hear a voice within me say,
Hide yourself behind behind a screen,
you shouldn't be heard you shouldn't be seen,
you're just an awful in between...
I sing for myself. I sing when I want, whenever I want to, just for me. I sing for my own pleasure. Do you understand that?

I'll be so glad when I have grown some
all by myself I get so lonesome
and I hope and pray for the day
when I'll be sweet sixteen ....

I know the feeling, Judy, I know the feeling Here's where you start!
I sing for myself. I sing when I want, whenever I want to, just for me. I sing for my own pleasure. Do you understand that?

Here's where you start!

"My dad says I should bother more
About my lack of grammar.
The only thing that bothers me
Is my lack of glamour!

Why, if I could use a lipstick and a powder puff
who knows, I might be Garbo...in the rough

Instead of In-between"

"At 14, I had my first taste of romance
It was at a party at dancing school
and he was younger than I was
and shorter than I was
Oh, but he had a wonderful name - ARCHIBALD!
And he really liked me too, he really did.

But I had to go and spoil it all
I asked him right out if he'd be my best beau
(sigh) That was the last I ever saw of him.

By now I was 15 - and pretty miserable!!"

For fifteen years my life has been just ....AWFUL!!!

I have to say though...

I really cannot stomach STRIKE UP THE BAND. Judy is given her absolute WORST singing doormat role. It's preachy and sanctimonious, laid on with an anvil. Except for "La Conga", the "Our Love Affair" fruit fantasy and the finale (and June Preisser at her bitchy blonde minx best), It's a film that demonstrates why "fast-forward" buttons exist.

But I really love the smartass Judy of GIRL CRAZY. And she is SO beautiful in that and nice to see her photographed in the great outdoors (even if it is in inexplicably black & white).

"Christ, Bette Davis?!?!"
