Fiyero's wife. Can't remember her name at the moment. Starts with an S...

Sarima! And we can't forget her sisters, Two through Six.
I know I'm nitpicking, but it's Nanny, not Granny.
Anyone else think Tibbet and Crope would have been hilarious onstage? They could have even appeared as anonymos friends of Galinda, delivered a couple one-liners or whatever.
Also, the complete warping of Boq's and Fiyero's characters seriously irks me; I guess I could say that their personalities are the characters I miss most! Ah well, keeping them would have probably added unwanted complexity to the musical.

mmmmm I do miss Book!Fieyro and Boq, but I really miss Liir. I know he isn't that big of a character in the book but I still love him. ::nod::

"I know I'm nitpicking, but it's Nanny, not Granny."

Thanks for clarifying. I was like, "who the Hell is granny?" since I just finished re-reading. I thought they might have meant Nanny. Too much of the story changed for the stage for he to be relevant.

"Anyone else think Tibbet and Crope would have been hilarious onstage?"

Those characters have a homosexual subtext and I think they are irrelevant to the cenral theme of the musical, but they would have been fun.

Liir and Nanny, especially at the end. I kept cracking up about so many things leading up to the melting, including the hors d'oeuvres question and the whole Liir-and-Dorothy thing. The latter was too hilarious... but it makes no sense in the context that they adapted the musical. *shrug* I love the book and musical separately for what they are, though.

[threadjack] Can anyone tell me the significance of the visit to the Philosophy Club? I could understand mentioning it, but what was the point of the visit when Elphaba (nor Glinda) didn't even go? Elphaba and Glinda could have left for the Emerald City anytime, it seemed to me. If anyone has an answer, I'd be very appreciative. [/threadjack]

I would have to say Tibbett and Crope, and Avaric. Sorry, I'm counting Tibbett and Crope as one since they're such a pair. And Avaric as the driver does NOT count. I mean the real jack-ass character. Pardon my language.
"I haven't got a pail." "Find your grail, your GRAIL!" "But it's not missing. It's right on the counter where it's supposed to- defying gravity, my giant cup's gone!" "Five hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes. How do you measure... measure a year?" "How many times do I have to tell you, it's five hundred twenty-five thousand, five hundred and eighty-five point thirty-two minutes. You will never graduate if you keep basing your math on showtunes." "You ruin Broadway for me." "As well I should."

I miss Book!Fiyero and Book!Boq a bit... they kinda mixed Fiyero's name, his title, and the fact that he falls for Elphie and then shoved in Avaric's personality and gave that name to the driver.

But I really liked Nanny... and Sarima... However, Sarima would have ruined the whole Galinda/Fiyero dealie that they wanted so there would be an easily recognizable and cruel reason for the house falling on Nessa. I'll admit, it was clever the way they had Madam Morrible have a weather specialty and tie that in, but... yeah...

Sarima. I always liked that aspect of the book. I like the whole Book!Fiyero/Elphaba story better than the one from the play.

Crope and Tibbett would have been SUCH campy fun on stage re: Favorite characters kicked out of WICKED?`

penECheery - I see the Philosophy Club venture as a plot device that only comes into play later - Tibbett has the 'charmed sex thing' with the Tiger as Avaric (I think) put it, which gets him wasted, which ends up, in short, killing him. But in his final months, he's sent to the ward for incurables where Elphaba is working. She's been drawn into herself for so many years that she practically ISN'T herself anymore, but he forces her to be real, to remember, to think again...and then after that, she leaves, onwards to Kiamo Ko. I really don't think she could have taken that first step without Tibbett.

Nanny/Granny, you know what I meant.

And yes, I call Tibbett and Crope (I keep on wanting to type Crabbe, from Harry Potter) Galinda's Gay Posse.

Avaric, Liir, and Nanny. Sarima kind of bothered me.
And then, do you know Monseiur Marius, I believe I was a little in love with you.

I do miss Nanny. I'm very glad that I saw the show before I read the book . . . as much as I love the show I think I could easily have seriously disliked it had I read the book first. This way I have a great appreciation for both!
"I wrote a book: "How to Be Popular". Now I've put together a top ten list of how to help you: -Elphie, everyday... shower. I mean, who knows? Maybe some of that green is gonna come off! -Deodorant Elphie. No body likes a stinky witch! -I think we've covered the hair, we'll get to that. -Clean underclothes. That's all I'm gonna say. -Look at your posture. That's no way to be popular! -Bed made, room straightened. We've done that. -Colors blended. Oookay. -But the most important thing to have, to make yourself popular, is to keep your beautiful smile." ~Kristin Chenoweth in her last performance of the song "Popular"

Liir and Avaric! Do you think they would ever consider a sequel w/Liir?

Katurian - Since they cut Liir out of the musical, they probably wouldn't. I'm assuming that you're suggesting a musical of Son of a Witch...my gosh, that novel focused on almost everything that was cut out of the Wicked musical! The Quadlings, the Gale Forcers, the mauntery, Princess Nastoya, the Vinkus tribes...Plus, what would they do for the face scrapings?
Yes, in case you haven't noticed, I'm a Maguire fan. :)
