And...here are the brillinat lyrics of the title song:
I certainly haven't been shopping for any new shoes
And I certainly haven't been spreading myself around
I still only travel by foot and by foot it's a slow climb
But I'm good at being uncomfortable so I can't stop changing all the time
I noticed that my opponent is always on the go
And won't go slow so as not to focus and I notice
He'll hitch a ride with any guide as long as they go fast from whence he came
But he's no good at being uncomfortable so he can't stop staying exactly the same
If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me or treat me mean
I'll make the most of it I'm an extraordinary machine
I seem to you to seek a new disaster every day
You deem me due to clean my view and be at peace and lay
I mean to prove I mean to move in my own way
And say I've been getting along for long before you came into the play
I am the baby of the family
It happens so everybody cares
And wears the sheeps clothes while they chaperone
Furious you're looking down your nose at me while you appease
Courteous to try and help but let me set your mind at ease
If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me or treat me mean
I'll make the most of it I'm an extraordinary machine
Do I so worry you
No need to hurry to my side, it's very kind
But it's to no avail
I don't want the veil (pill?)
I promise you everything will be just fine
If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me or treat me mean
I'll make the most of it I'm an extraordinary machine
If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me or treat me mean
I'll make the most of it I'm an extraordinary machine
Sinatra would have done more than kicked her in the head. It is a bit pathetic that she melted down like that. She is still amazing though and I can not wait for her new album.

She probably overreacted, but still, not being able to hear yourself when you're singing in front a huge group of people ain't fun.

yes, but the lights told the soundboard guy that there was nothing wrong - the musicians all heard her!! we all heard her!
It was beyond bizzare!
Well, I got my hands on the leaked version...
It's really, really good, but like When the Pawn, I suspect it isn't commercial sounding enough to be a financial success.
Every now and then people suprise me though.

I was at Roseland, too.
I don't know if they did refunds right away or waited until they rescheduled for the makeup show at the Beacon to see if people could make that instead. I went to the Beacon show and thought she was phenomenal...especially since she made it through the whole show.
The night of the Roseland concert, I overheard a cell conversation on the LIRR home (not too hard as she was very loud)...from someone who for some reason was at the sound check that afternoon and said that Fiona never showed up for the soundcheck. She just wanted to hang out with her boyfriend and eat.
One good thing about that night, is I met and had a nice couple of small conversations with David Byrne. Unfortunately some rather inebriated young men were a little too enthusiastic talking to him. They kept bumping up to him and tapping his arm like they were old friends. Gotta give him credit, he was very gracious and patient with them.
On an off note...I'm new here. Hi!

Thanks!
I'm looking forward to hearing the reworked Extraordinary Machine. I love the stuff out there already.
Do you guys think Fiona's album will connect with the public?

I love love love Fiona Apple. She is one of those few artists that I will buy an album from without hearing anything from it ahead of time.
My favorites of hers are "Paper Bag," "Get Gone," "Sullen Girl," and "Slow Like Honey." But there really isn't a song of hers that I don't like. She is truly a wonderful writer.

It's hit or miss. From what I've heard of the upcoming album, compared to leaked tracks it's got a more mainstream sound. Her lyrics are pretty cerebral, though. Time will really tell. There are still people who can't get past what happened years ago at the VMAs or Roseland.
That being said, the leaked album was one of the best albums I've heard all year. And I really wasn't much of a fan until I heard it, which then caused me to go back and revisit her earlier stuff.
So, to answer the question, I have no idea. I certainly hope so, as hope Liz Phair (who always has a new album coming out the same day) does eventually.
Does she usually tour big venues or small?
I REALLY want to see her tour with this new album. I love "Oh Sailor."

I'm so excited for the new album! I haven't heard any of it so far, so it'll be a total surprise. Yay!
Me too, very excited.
In the above photo, Fiona looks like she's eaten in the past few weeks!
Does it come out today, I forget...
I adore her - I think she's the best lyricist out there right now. Rolling Stone gave her new CD 4 star's...
It comes out next week.

Well, I don't actually have the ability to listen to anything as I don't have speakers here. But I appreciate the link, in any case. I think it'll be really fun to hear it for the first time next week, though, when I go buy it. It gives me something to look forward to. (Does my life sound as empty to you all as it does to me when I read that sentence? )

You're welcome. I was just putting it out there in case anyone wanted to give it a listen.
I understand about having something to look forward to. I haven't heard the RENT soundtrack yet (apart from the clips). I'm getting it today.
And no, your life doesn't sound empty. At least no more than mine.
