Thought this was too perfect- there's a story about Flat Stanley in today's L.A. Times. Apparently Schwarzenegger took him on Leno this week? I need to catch up on my late night tv more. :)

Posted: 10/14/06 at 11:58pmThe set up for that site is super quick and easy so it should be a problem to keep adding to it. As soon as I get e-mails I will post them. The scanning will probably be delegated to my husband, but once they are on my pc I will post those too. Well darlings I'm off to bed. Good night and thanks again!

Posted: 10/18/06 at 8:45pmI just wanted to check in and see if anyone else needed my e-mail address to send me pictures. I haven't gotten any new e-mails or Stanleys in the mail lately. Thanks again to everyone for helping out!

Posted: 10/18/06 at 8:47pmWe've been really busy at work and I'm back to working full time so I haven't been able to get Stanley to the zoo yet. I promise to try this weekend if the weather cooperates.

No rush, I have just been swamped with school and work. I am doing my practicum so I am getting to school at 6:45am and I work at the after school program til 6pm. It is exhausting, but the kids are so worth it. I taught a lesson today and I had a kid come up to me after it (in front of my observing teacher so that was AWESOME) and tell me that I was cool and that I was a really great science teacher. I was floored. Something like that makes the 11 hour days worth it.
Anyways, thanks again to all of you!

Stanley was such a hit here, he's accumulated a "gift bag". He's awaiting one final adventure, and should be back in Monday's mail. In the meantime, here are a few random shots.
Here's Stanley getting ready to set out on his first adventure around town.
Here's Stanley in front of the Chattahoochee River. (Stanley is now an honorary Hoochee Mama.)
Here's Stanley at the Pemberton House. John Pemberton was the inventor of Coca-Cola. It is widely accepted that he actually created the formula in Atlanta, but long-time Columbus residents are quick to put their noses in the air and state that he actually created it here.
I was guesstimating when I resized those pics, so I hope I don't blow out the dimensions of this thread.

"I had a kid come up to me after it (in front of my observing teacher so that was AWESOME) and tell me that I was cool and that I was a really great science teacher. "
Isn't it great what kids do sometimes? I had a few good laughs this week.....
--One little girl was making really scary sounds during our Halloween song, and I said, "I see your two older brothers have taught you well". She said, "No, it's not them, I just have a gift for being scary".
--One little boy was trying to be "helpful" and make this one little girl sit down. And I told him "I know you're trying to help, she's just being silly". A few minutes later I hear him say "Cassie, I don't have time for this, just sit down".
--Finally, we have a book fair going on at school, and it's set up in the gym. There is no gym on Wednesdays, so this works well. One of the kindergarteners was telling me "we went to this thing in the gym and there were all these books. I don't know where the gym teacher got all these books but he's letting us buy them. And if you forgot your money today, you can go on Friday."

Posted: 10/18/06 at 10:05pmStanley saw the Denver Museum of Nature and Science last week (and he had fans!), and today he went to Red Rocks. I'll be taking him to see the Denver Performing Arts Complex tomorrow, and he might even go with me when I see "Dracula" tomorrow night.

Posted: 10/19/06 at 10:13pmThat sounds like it will be great to share with the kids!

Oh- No! Is that Flat Stanley Project over?
If not, I have some here!
Flat Stanley learns about the beauty of butterflies but also learns about how delicate they are.
Flat Stanley learns that masks can be fun to play with. Oh, and that's the mask he's going to wear for Halloween.
