Be sure to let me know how much Madeas muumuu goes for!!
Tree-fitty!
That Debbie collected everything. Next auction of hers has Chris Rocks crack pipe from NEW JACK CITY and a Gina Gershons panties from SHOWGIRLS.
If only.
I'd rather see, Linda Blair's devil undies from The Exorcist.
The doody in the swimming pool prop from Caddyshack.
And of course, the prom dress from Carrie, after the prank.
Because of poor Debbies hoarding she was forced to sleep I'm her garage in the backseat of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for years.
And I would have traded places with her in a heartbeat.
No you wouldnt. She turned the trunk into her toilet.
Blanche DuBois' dressing robe from Streetcar worn by Vivien Leigh sold for $18K. It was valued at $4K to 6K.
I didn't even see that in my catalogue!!
Marilyn's "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" red dress with sequins, valued at $200K to $300K just sold for $1.2 million!
EDIT: More Marilyn dresses ...
River of No Return, valued at $80K sold for $510K.
There's No Business Like Show Business "Heat Wave" dress, valued at 100K-200K sold for $500K.
Marilyn's ivory subway dress from Seven Year Itch just sold ...
... for $4.6 million.
WOW. I hope whoever bought it does the right thing with it.
That's an all-time record for movie memorabilia.
Let's see ... a mansion? ... or a sundress?
*flips doubloon*
$4.6 million?
I really want to know who bought it.
There are some craaaaazy bidders in this auction. Grace Kelly's dress from To Catch a Thief was valued at $30K to 50K, and it just sold for $450K.
I want to see what Yul Brynner's costume from King & I sells for. They fished it out of the trash before Debbie bought it. They thought it was some old "oriental" makeup robe, until one of the workers said, "Didn't I see that in the King & I?"
One man's trash is another man's treasure!
Bob Fosse's jacket from My Sister Eileen was valued at $2K-3K, but nobody met the starting bid.
I've only seen about 5 or 6 things go unsold so far, mostly furniture or props.
I guess we'll never know who won what, unless anyone actively does press.
I'm guessing it'll show up in a Hard Rock Cafe somewhere. Or the lobby of a Trump building.
Yul's robe for King & I sold for $9.5K, and his throne sold for $8K.
Another one went through the roof, and nobody saw it coming ...
Audrey Hepburn's Ascot dress and hat from My Fair Lady, estimated at $100K to $200K got into a bidding war ...
... and sold for $3.7 million. Second only to Marilyn's sundress for an all-time record.
What about Hepburn's Ascott Gavotte dress from My Fair Lady?
That's what I just posted about! (see above)
3.7 million.
The auction's over.
Anybody got a calculator? By my estimations, Debbie Reynolds made ... let me see ... a whole lotta money!
FYI, Julie Andrews jumper dress from Sound of Music (worn in Do Re Mi) sold for $550, after being estimated at $40K to $60K.
The biggest surprises (meaning way, way, way above their estimates) were Marilyn's sundress, Audrey's My Fair Lady dress, Marilyn's Gentlemen Prefer Blondes dress, and Judy's test dress from Wizard of Oz.
Why do I keep picturing David Geffen standing in front of a gilded mirror in a cream sundress, with an overturned fan at his feet?
I'm sure he has an overturned fan at his feet almost every night.
But the sundress makes the picture!
