Food Glorious Food!

We have had many threads about different meals and such. (Usually started by me.) We never have had one centralized thread where we can talk about any and all types of food we are eating no matter what time of day it is. I apologize in advance to those who are on diets. If it makes you feel any better, I don't post about unhealthy snacks very often.

Currently I am snacking on trail mix with a glass of Fruit Medley V8 Splash.

I had this southwestern bean soup for dinner that came frozen in individual packages. It was very low in fat and had no cholesterol. The only bad part was the sodium content, but that is easy to work around with my other meals of the day. Also had a salad, a Fuji apple and a tall glass of milk.

For breakfast I am going to have a glass of milk, a bowl of Kashi Go Lean Crunch, a banana, and maybe some toast.

mmmmm...rolos.....hehehe. my Homer Simpson moment, everyone.

Well, it's 1:00 am over here on the Westcoast and I am munching on Strawberry Pie from Marie Calendars. Yummy! I couldn't sleep so I thought I'd indulge myself with an after midnight snack. I'm downing it with a glass of milk. (pondering to myself: I wonder if anyone else is up at this hour.)
Yes, I'm pinay. And I'm proud of it!

re: Food Glorious Food!

Slight threadjack (maybe not - what IS the topic?) - I'm on Day 1 for Atkins again until I go to Europe at the end of April (Yeah, I know, I know, it's unhealthy, clogged arteries, I get it - I'm going for aesthetics and results, not health here) - anyone have any good low-carb recipes for me? I'm sick of eating omlettes 3 meals a day.

Honey, eat a porterhouse and be done with it!
Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

Is your nickname Porterhouse? re: Food Glorious Food!

I do enjoy carving a juicy red porterhouse once in a while.

re: Food Glorious Food!

The topic is everything having to do with food so it is not a threadjack! re: Food Glorious Food! I've made my stanc on Atkins clear. I do not trust it. I like the idea that dieting doesn't work. You aren't going to keep the weight off if you just go on a diet because it will come back once you get off of it. You have to change your eating habits for good and get plenty of exercise...

re: Food Glorious Food!

Yeah, I know. *raspberry* (Oh, and for the record to anyone who was wondering, I spend obscene amounts of time on here but I am physically active. In more ways than one. re: Food Glorious Food!) I'm just looking for a crash diet to drop some weight quick so I can make a good first impression on someone, and then I can spend the rest of the time eating healthily, etc. I actually did Atkins last year for 3 months and lost 25 lbs, and was able to start eating healthier again and have only gained back 10 of those pounds. I'm just saying, I'm looking for a quick solution to appease someone for one day, and then I'll be eating healthy afterwards.

re: Food Glorious Food!

I don't see why Atkins necessarily *has* to be a cardiac nightmare. Some people (perhaps you're one of them, Tiff, my dear) see cutting out the roll as an excuse to eat a half a dozen burgers...or nixing the rice as an excuse to eat a 1 lb. steak. I don't see why you can't just cut out the carbs (bread, rice, pasta, what have you) but still not be freakishly carnivorously gluttonous (a word?)

re: Food Glorious Food!

*makes note to take a bite out of Mabel's arm in the fall* No, Mabs, I'm not one of those gluts who takes "no carbs" to mean "stuff self full of fat and protein". There's only so much steak and cheese that one can eat! Plus I think people's biggest misconception about Atkins is that it's "no carb" when it's not. It's "low carb". Still an unhealthy alternative to a balanced diet, but gets faster visible results, for better or for worse.

Thanks Gunn. Now I have this song and the ridiculous choreography from it stuck in my head.

I am on a diet, so I will not be reading this thread anymore.

re: Food Glorious Food!

Eeep! I need my arm!!!

I know most people that do Atkins are probably pretty moderate, but I just get visions of this 20/20 special I watched where they had a handful of people each doing a different diet and the Atkins guy was NUTS! He lost a ton of weight, but he'd get fast food, and eat like 10 cheeseburgers (sans bun) and it was the most disgusting thing ever. Blech! It's all about moderation.

Off to class. I'd like to have my classes in moderation, that'd be nice!

Put a Rolo on top of a mini pretzel and then place it in the oven til the rolo is soft, then press a nut (almond, cashew - your choice) into the rolo to smush it down into the pretzel - its a pure white trash snack!

Food Revelation for the Day

I must have lived in California too long now--I just realized today that freaky-ass salad greens that look more like weeds than lettuce really don't bother me anymore, whereas I know they used to at one time. In fact, I'll even select them in addition to "normal" lettuce at a salad bar.

Nothing truly earth-shattering, I know, but it just kinda hit me as I eat my salad for lunch.
