I respect her very much and I think she would make a terrific head of house but I can't in good conscious support her presidential candidacy. I probably could if we were a term or two away from Bush, but at this point I don't think it's what we need.
"Your "there have never been candidates like them" statement cuts a wide swath. There HAVE been candidates like them in many aspects of their campaigns. Maybe if you were more specific about what you were trying to say, like what you said in your response, your point would have been more clear."
I'm sorry I didn't write my precise meaning on the wall but it was pretty clear, especially considering all that has been written and talked about concerning the implications of this Democratic race. Has there ever legitimately been a presidential race where a black man and a woman were overwhelmingly the front runners who completely dominated both the media and the vote (so far)? Even if Hillary and Obama were handily defeated by, say, Kucinich in South Carolina and they dropped out, this race is already pretty historical.

Obviously not to everyone because if it was I would not have made the comments that did.

Wow, a terrific head of house?? Maybe this country is in need of a terrific head of house, just like most families, the woman is what makes it work.

Well, I can't help your ability to infer or conclude, nor should I make assumptions about the amount of attention you pay to the national media. I don't know what agenda you bring to the table as you read the things other people write. I can only write what I mean and I meant what I wrote!

Heh, no, no... although I'll admit I kind of want to see the first woman president get there on her own two feet without a famous husband, I do see how Hillary Clinton has played a flawed system where all the cards were stacked against her incredibly well her entire life.
I think maybe she'd be great in eight years when we've (hopefully) managed to move beyond some of the resultant problems from the Bushes and Clinton 1. Then I'd be less wary.

I'm glad to see that it wasn't the landslide in Obama's favor that has been predicted by the media for the past few days. I'm still torn between Clinton and Obama. I think that no matter who won NH, the fact that it was so close is going to force both candidates to push harder and be more specific about their plans to carry out the changes that both are espousing.
I think either one of them has the potentail to turn things around in this country in this country and clean up some of the mess made by Bush. With the margin so narrow in NH, we may be seeing a change in campaign strategy from both. More focus on the specifics that rea likely to sway voters who haven't completely committed themselves yet.

I have loathed the Clintons behavior in the last 72 hours, particularly Bill's, and my feelings about her self-serving tears are perfectly summarized by Maureen Dowd in today's TIMES. I so don't want her to be the nominee.
BUT I agree with PJ and everyone who was appalled that one set of Iowa caucuses somehow sealed the deal for the nation, and especially, for all democrats. Let's see this thing develop, evolve, expand, change, change, CHANGE,and let the debating continue. Perhaps now it truly gets interesting.
The low point was watching Mad Man Romney in his J. Crew suddenly start saying "I'm the man who can take on OBAMA!"
I think Mittens has cue cards with fill in the blank, like a local weatherman who substitutes "drizzle" for "overcast."

"Edwards who's splitting votes with Obama hasn't dropped out of the race yet. After that point, we'll have a whole new dynamic."
I'm for Edwards- but if he were to drop out of the race I will fully support Hillary.

It's been a lot of fun these past few hours watching events unfold in both political camps. The press is scrambling as Tom Brokaw says, "The Media 'Stampeded The Process,' Got It Wrong", some members of this board are scrambling after anointing the Iowa winners as the nominees, the culinary Workers union in Navada, its largest and most politically active union, who were all set to endorse Obama, are now having second thoughts. etc., etc., etc.
Then there the folks who are mad at Bill and Hillary because, like everyone else in the race, they are doing what it takes to get elected, but, because they support different candidates what the Clintons are doing, or have done, is somehow vile or self-serving. I would assume that ALL candidates would be somewhat self-serving since it's all about getting themSELVES elected.
Who knows, the Iowa winners might end up as the nominees, and then again they might not. Some people either have very short memories or they have not followed too many election campaigns. It will be a little while before the fat lady sings so it might be a good idea for some people to stop getting their knickers in a twist and let the process play out.

A woman get teary eyed, she is weak and emotional.
A man cries, he is sensitive.
A woman, comes out with all guns, she is a b**ch
A man does the same he is a strong leader.
What is wrong with this picture?
Anyone who calls Hillary cold and calculating, should examine closely the candidate that they are supporting.

Posted: 1/9/08 at 9:23amin defense of those who rushed to judgement, since '72 the democrat who won iowa and new hampshire has been the nominee in every primary save '92 when bubba broke all the rules and set the process on its ear. following a 9 point win in iowa, it was not unreasonable to assume that fingers might build on his success and take nh. had he done so - and every poll had him doing exactly that - it's not hard to see why people might have crowned him as the presumptive nominee.

I don't think Americans are as addicted to the 'same people over and over' as they used to be. Even my dad, who voted for Bush twice, has now said he'll probably be voting against Republicans from now on.
"Head of house" meant "House of Representatives"...
RIGHT?
