"And you'd be wrong."

All I know is that the press told me for a year straight that Hillary Clinton was going to win the nomination. Then for four days this comes into justifiable doubt and suddenly she becomes the underdog and the victim. I'm not sure how that works. Sorry. Maybe I'm trying not to overreact.

But I'm not wrong. Even when she was in trouble she was on the cover of every newspaper instead of Obama. Hillary Clinton got the press she needed. New Hampshire is my proof.

Tears & Fears

Apparently Karl Rove thinks Hillary's being choked up was genuine.

"But I think it is a real moment," he is quoted as saying.

I think it's a moot point if the tears were real or no. Hillary obviously cares about what will happen to this country. She wouldn't be in this if she didn't.

Erica Jong seems not to actually have read Maureen Dowd's article. Key quote from Dowd:
"It was a peculiar tactic. Here she was attacking Obama for spreading gauzy emotion by spreading gauzy emotion."

This, to me, is the essential hypocrisy of Hillary Clinton--she criticizes her opponents while incorporating the things they do successfully into her own style. This is not credibility and she should be criticized for it.

It's not a matter of a man being able to cry and not a woman--she STILL played into a stereotype. Hillary is seen as calculating because she IS calculating, and being in the public eye for 20 years has shown us this.

I found Gloria Steinem's article incredibly offensive. If there was a young half African senator who had given a stirring, inciting speech and rose to prominence in the Democratic party fighting tooth and nail and happened to have a vagina she'd probably get as much attention as Obama has. This isn't a fight about whether women or African Americans are more disenfranchised. I don't want to undermine Clinton and Obama's incredible achievement--but ambition is everything.

I don't like Steinem anyway.

"People hate her, surely. But she's vetted. No poop stuck to her. Do you REALLY think there's going to be some new revelation? "

Look, I'm not a Republican and I'm not trying to take down Clinton but I was only citing offenses my Republican friends still take Hillary to task for. The fact is she will mobilize, she will polarize. She'll energize the Republican party spectacularly. The vote will go 50-50 again and you know what a crap shoot that is. It would be like Jeb Bush running.

As for health care, honestly, I don't think we're any closer to a practical universal health care plan now than we were then (and I was eight in '93 but I believe the economy was in a much better place, so we're probably farther). Of course President Hillary would have a lot more power than First Lady Hillary.

Interesting. The woman who made Hillary cry actually voted for Obama. Said she didn't like how Hillary showed her human side for 10 seconds and then immediately stiffened up afterwards. The moment actually decided her vote the other way.

Now we've officially gone over-the-top. A Huffington Post columnist is calling Clinton's moment of emotion "fearmongering."

I'm getting so tired of reading political columns, but it's addicting.

It IS addicting!

Anyways, did you actually read the article...? He didn't say her tears were fearmongering. He said the tears had nothing to do it. It was her actual fearmongering. Read the quote!!!! Please, please, PLEASE read the quotes and the full articles...

"I don't think it was by accident that al-Qaeda decided to test the new prime minister. They watch our elections as closely as we do, maybe more closely than some of our fellows citizens do. Let's not forget you're hiring a president not just to do what a candidate says during the election, you want a president to be there when the chips are down."-- Who is this quote from? Dick Cheney? Rudy Giuliani? No...

...Hillary Clinton, just a few days ago, pre-New Hampshire victory.

Hillary's been making insinuations like this for a while. Bill Clinton has been going around saying that because Barack Obama voted to provide better funds to the troops in Iraq, he is somehow inconsistent on his stance--or that he has no plan for Iraq, when in fact he has a very detailed plan that is very similar to Hillary's.

Come on, guys... let's keep it honest. Decidedly Bush-like fearmongering is one of the main premises of the Clinton campaign.

The story I heard on CNN is that the woman voted for Obama because she went to one of his rallies and he made HER cry twice during his speech. Who knows?

LOL

Anti Hillary folk will find anything that she says against her opponents and run with it. The same goes for the anti Obama camp or the anti Edwards camp. And again the same goes for the Republican candidates. It's called an election campaign. Mud will be slung from all sides and the only thing that no candidate will be called by any other candidate is a 'Child of God'.

When it's all said and done some of those slinging mud at each other may end up as running mates and will only have the best things to say about each other then. It's just down right funny watching people get all holier than thou about their candidate. Every last one of them are politicians and as I've said before politicians do whatever they can to get elected. I'm not saying it's right or that I agree with it, it's just how it is.

I guess... just the outright lying just pisses me off. I feel like people don't make valid decisions. That's how we end up with people like Bush, and that's how he gets away with so much. The real information is so readily available...

She did more than cry.

She proposed a 10-point plan to cut red tape, rebuild the Gulf Coast, build a reliable hurricane-protection system, expand affordable housing, combat rising crime, rebuild schools, revitalize Gulf Coast health care and revamp federal disaster response.
