In fourth grade, I had a relative die every month for about half the year.
The world is a morbid place and sometimes it's morbidly funny- don't tell me that you never laugh at A Little Priest?
Edit- I agree with Lexi.

I'm just mentioning the happenings.
Yesterday all my posts were about selling Idina tampons on ebay- but that's a whole other story.
SweetQ- I made her this box and you put a picture on top, and inside you can put like whatever you want. I used a bunch of different fabrics and used this type of paste that made it shiny. It came out really well, though it's not anything spectacular.

The happenings? I can't imagine that everything in your life pertains to such violent crimes and death, or that everything you read or hear pertains to those events as well.
I miss how this thread used to be conversational. Now, it's just a repository for All Things Morbid. If such "happenings" have affected your life in such a drastic way recently, I apologize, but how is anyone supposed to join in a conversation that is always about death?!
My avatar seems to be betraying my tone. Heh.

awww...but it's homemade and she obviously loved it and that's all that counts- right?
The deaths that I speak of mainly are ones that are more preventable.
Like suicide
Drowning
stabbing
drinking and driving and hitting someone
etc...

That's really cute, M3. Have you got a picture?
SweetQ, good things also happen in the world. They are also worth mentioning and frankly, bemoaning the unfortunate ends of people you did not know won't help anything.
Speaking of eBay,though, someone is trying to sell leaves that are allegedly from Elijah Wood's front yard. Gotta love it.

That's priceless. If you want something it's always on ebay!

The username of the seller is extremely close to someone I know. I almost had a mini-heart attack, which might also fall into the category of "preventable deaths," considering I should exercise more and eat healthier.
I have to be the only person alive who didn't care for Lord of the Rings... well, the first one at least. I didn't bother watching the others, although I think I should. Like with the movies, I read The Hobbit, disliked it, and gave up on the series.

First of all- I did know the person who committed suicide (she was a very good friend of mine) and I did know the person who drown (I babysit his older siblings).
As for e-bay....the weird thing is all of her feedback is 100% positive.

Lexi, Elijah Wood is actually a pretty decent actor. Have you seen Everything is Illuminated? I think you might like it and it has nothing to do with hobbits.
I tried so hard to get through LotR, but it was just too damned slow.
Well, if the seller sends all the things she sells, then wouldn't she have good feedback even if those things were ridiculous?
If you can't buy it on eBay or amazon, it probably doesn't exist.

I don't like Lord of the Rings at all. I couldn't sit through the first movie. I didn't even try the next ones. I just don't like it at all!!

Yes.

No, I haven't seen Everything Is Illuminated or anything else of his. I didn't get the impression that he or any of the rest of the LotR cast were bad actors, though, just that the film was very slow and not interesting. Fantasy generally isn't my thing, though. I guess I'm too much of a realist, albeit a realist who lets her imagination run wild a bit too often.
What you said about Wood reminded me of my feelings about another actor, though. Everyone laughs why I say that Hayden Christensen is actually quite an actor. Yes, his acting in Star Wars was horrific, but did anyone notice that Natalie Portman's acting in that film was just as horrific? I think that the "script" excuse is overused in general, but it really does ring true with regards to Star Wars. Life as a House was amazing.

QM used to say that about him too, Lexi. Maybe I'll add that movie to my Netflix queue (how is that spelled?).
Natalie was dreadful in the new Star Wars movies, yes, but I somehow still managed to sort of like them. I'm a sucker for a love story.
I do think that Orlando Bloom might actually be a genuinely bad actor. *ducks* He sounded so stiff in Pirates of the Carribean.
This is sort of random (well, tangentially related at best), but did anyone ever see that movie The Good Son with Elijah Wood and Macaulay Culkin where Macaulay's character was psychotic and tried to kill people? I actually thought it was kind of a good movie -- and good acting on Elijah's part.
Both of the browsers I have freak out 50% of the time when I attempt to send PMs on BWW. It's quite annoying.
Edit: Gee, I'm not helping pull the thread out of its morbid state with that movie mention, am I?

I didn't like LOTR, but I do love Star Wars for too much. I really did like the new ones, but the originals will always be the best.
I loved Hayden Christensen in the short-lived ABC Family show Higher Ground and when I found out he was going to be Anakin in the next Star Wars movie, I gushed to all my friends about how amazing his acting was. They were less than impressed when they saw Attack of the Clones.
My parents are going to replace all the windows and exterior doors in the entire house and the contractor was here for so long that we couldn't eat dinner until 9pm. It's thrown off my entire night.
ASH- ME TOO! OMG, I thought I was the only one! It's fine if I PM someone from the board and I get the pop-up, but if I go through the PM link at the top and reply, then half the time, it slows my browser to a grinding halt for a few minutes and sometimes crashes it altogether.
I have seen The Good Son. It's on TBS sometimes I think, but yeah. It is a good movie.
And I LOVED Higher Ground. It's on one of those weird digital cable channels sometimes and I always watch it.

You spelled it correctly, nia. :) I obviously didn't know QM, but I wish she'd stop in.
I LOVE THE NEW STAR WARS MOVIES, TOO. It's so pathetic, but I'm a sap. My little eighth-grader heart was whisked away with Episode II. Why?! Also, the love leading to Anakin's downfall plot of Episode III was oh so predictable, but it made my little fangirl heart go pitter-patter.
I also like the name Anakin quite a bit, but if I were to ever name my child that, please shoot me.

Ok, I'm not going to get Life as A House because I have very definite hypochondriac-like tendancies. The thought of terminal illness keeps me up for days. I'm tempted to run out of the room when my health teacher reads Tuesdays With Morrie to us. However, I am going to get Shattered Glass, so I'll let you know what I think of him.
Sorry, skittles. We had that problem one time. A pipe exploded or something and the guys were at my house from Thanksgiving to Christmas. The mother was at a total loss; she almost bought stockings for them because they were still around on Christmas Eve. I didn't complain, though, because we got to get Arby's instead of Christmas ham for dinner.
My mom named my brother Luke because of Star Wars. I'm so glad I didn't end up being named Leia...

People are using 'real' names and I am getting confused.
Is Lexi, xM3L24x
and Ash(ley), sweetestsiren ?
Oh, GOOD, skittles! I mean, not good, but I was worried that I had a virus or something -- but yes, when I try to reply to PMs something weird happens and my browser freezes and I have to force-quit.
I'm Ashley... sorry for the confusion.

No, I'm Lexi.
Shattered Glass is good, nia.
I don't know if Chloe is reading this thread, but she mentioned to me that she's having a lot of problems with PMs recently as well.

Lexi, I swear that I will shoot you if you want to name your child Anakin.... with a supersoaker.
How about C-3PO instead?
