So I made rice tonight and burned it.
Then I made brownies, and poured the batter into the pan before putting cooking spray in.
Someone needs to keep me out of the kitchen.
I've done that before with brownies too fantab, but I've never burned rice. Then again I don't like rice.

Btw, did you ever figure out the Light in the Piazza thing? I know you were trying to find out if it was airing by you.

I'm doing alright, thanks. How about you two?
It's on channel 197, which I don't get because no one on earth has channel 197... *sigh* It's really depressing, but there's nothing I can do about it. Are you guys watching it now?

I thought it was on PBS? Doesn't everyone get PBS? Sorry if you've already elaborated on this and I missed it.
I'm actually not watching it because I'm so insanely tired. I know, I apparently have the strength to type yet can't watch TV, but for me, getting into new musicals is kind of... draining? That's why I can only really listen to one new cast recording at a time. I'm a bit strange.
I had to wake up at 4 AM for work this morning. I wish I would have known about these insane hours before starting work at Starbucks.
I'm kind of watching it. I want my mom to see it but she was out, so I'm on-and-off watching it now until I can sit down and watch it with her sometime over the weekend.
My kitchen looks like it's been hit by a tornado.

Yeah, it's on some kind of special subscription-only offshoot of PBS.
Listening to a new musical does take effort, but I thought I was the only one who felt that way. You have to be mentally awake enough to follow along and figure it all out or else you can't really enjoy the CD. Or at least I can't; I need context.
The thing about Piazza is that I could have seen it a few days ago if I had known I wasn't going to get it on TV.... *sigh* As is, I have to hope that I can either get a DVD or get decent tickets when the tour eventually comes around.
4am? That's hideous. I'm still having no luck with a job.
I think that's my reasoning for not sitting down and listening to Chess.

Chess definitely requires effort, but it's very well worth it. You can do it in chunks, I guess.
It took me forever to get into Les Mis, but now I love it. Into The Woods required a lot of following along with the booklet too because there are so many things going on.

I'm glad I have someone who agrees with me! The logical thing would have just been to have taped it, but maybe I can trade for a copy later if I want it badly enough. Anyway, I always read the musical's synopsis before listening to a new cast recording. I hate listening to songs knowing that there is a plot behind them without knowing what the plot is.
I don't blame you, Fantab, especially with all of the various versions out there that we're always talking about. It must get confusing. If you ever want me to explain the plot to the benefit version (or any version, really), just let me know. I'm more than happy to do so, and I promise you that it would be worth it.
Nia, I'm sorry about your job woes. Maybe you can apply at a different retail store in your area? I don't mind Starbucks except for the crazy hours and its extreme busyness at certain points of the day. Rude co-workers are horrible as well, but that seems like a constant anywhere you work.
I think the last time I asked for a basic synopsis of Chess someone told me it was about a game of Chess. 'Twas very helpful, indeed.
Lexi, be glad you have a job. Sorry, I'm a little bitter - in case you couldn't tell.

I've dropped off multiple applications and none of them will get back to me.... I just don't know what to do anymore.
Fantab, I'm happy to explain anything you want to know. Which version do you have? I'm pretty good at synopses.
Why are you bitter about jobs, if I may ask?
Piazza is one of the hardest to listen to for me because there is so little plot contained within the songs. I can sort of figure it out, but there are a lot of loose ends that drive me insane. And the booklet doesn't help.

Heh! Well, that's not even very accurate, as there are two games played within the show. If you really do want to read a synopsis, you can check out the link below (it's a synopsis of the Broadway storyline, which closely mirrors the benefit version's storyline), or I can type one and PM you with it if you wish!
I am actually very happy that I have a job. It's just extremely difficult for me to work with apathetic and rude people, although that might be in part because I've never had a "real" job before and am not used to dealing with people like that in the workplace.

Who is in Piazza that is on PBS now?

oh- that would probably make sense. lol
thanks.
I had a summer job lined up since February. I was a substitute counselor last summer at a camp and they asked me to come back as a full time counselor. Amazing pay - and it only required around four hours of work a day. I went in for a meeting around a month ago, and they even required me to go to the doctors ($100, btw) and get shots, etc.
I got a call last week saying camper enrollment was lower than they expected and they didn't need me. They waited incredibly late to tell me (I was expecting to start next Monday), and it was all really unprofessional of them. And they most likely took advantage of me because I was the youngest one.
So...yes - that's why I'm bitter.

Fantab- uhh...that really sucks! Especially paying the 100$ for all the shots/tests.
I hope you can find something soon.

That's really, really ****ty, Fantab. I'm sorry. I can't believe they did that after you'd already endured the needles and spent that money.
Is anywhere near you hiring or are you just stuck?

I'm frantically looking for a steady babysitting job, but I don't know how long I'm supposed to hold out if I don't get one - and what I would do for money, either.
I'm on the job hunt too. I can't find a job anywhere. I must have filled out about 10 applications and I haven't heard anything yet. I need money!

Fantab- It used to be legal but I know in some places it's not anymore but, how about putting up a babysitting sign like in supermarkets or regular stores (even Babies R Us)
Obviously, you'd have to get permission but I know that sometimes can get you good business.
P.S. Just in case you are wondering- in some places it's not legal anymore because if for some reason the babysitter is a child molester (or something like that)- the store that you put your advertisement up in could be sued.
