Conan needs to call Dave for some advice! Jay can't lose at this point.

i think letterman could get jimmy fallon to appear on his show and jump off a building without a net as a stupid human trick. and the world would be a much, much better place for it.

Okay, give Jay a half hour and call it "Before Tonight". Give Conan the next hour and call it "Midnight Tonight." Give Jimmy Fallon a half hour and call it "After Midnight." Fire Carson Daly.
Put "The All-New Love, American Style" on Monday thru Friday at 10. Include nudity.
You're welcome NBC.

Posted: 1/8/10 at 3:09pmSo tell me, how can Jay do a monologue and have a guest in 22-24 minutes? Will he just do stand up for a half an hour or tart the show with a guest already there? Doesn't Conan have a contract or any say in the matter? Doesn't he have some legal options? I mean the man moved from NYC to LA and they ditch him after only 5 months? This was NBC's mistake. 10:00 Pm time slot 5 nights a week, people by 11:35 are tired of more late night interviews and skits and monologues, and NBC did not foresee this? Just love NBC. Some exec at NBC makes a dumb business choice and Conan pays for it? Un real. I hope NBC gets a lot of bad press for this. Same goes for Jay Leno. What a jerk!

Posted: 1/8/10 at 3:31pmI just don't know what to say after this new update. Conan does NOT deserve all this ****. He uprooted his family for this & they throw him away like yesterdays trash? I'm sure Conan will end up suing.

Posted: 1/8/10 at 3:32pmthey better not touch Fallon. As someone who HATED his show when it started I've gone 180 and now find myself tuning in everynight (going between him and Ferguson who I also love) I feel like Fallon really grew into the job and now has found his groove and is so adorable and hilarious. I can't stand Leno (or Letterman for that matter) and haven't laughed watching his show in years.

Apparently Conan has no say in this. NBC put a clause in Conan's contract which says they can bump his show to 12:05 without warning (apparently as a failsafe for long-running sports matches), which they'll probably put into effect once they put Leno on at 11:35.
NBC just needs to own up to their mistake and fire Leno.

The Jay Leno Show has officially been cancelled.
FOX has been open to Conan coming on over to their network.
Judging by Conan's opening monologue after this happened, he seems genuinely pissed at NBC.

Posted: 1/10/10 at 10:06pmLeno's age demographic are older than Conan's audience so we are talking about Baby Boomer Generation meaning way more of them. Also more of Middle America in Leno's case. That being said, has there ever been a point in TV history before this where one person had so much effect on a major network? NBC dumped shows for Leno, shuffled shows for Leno, and now are ordering all sorts of pilots because of Leno's failure on top of pushing Conan around.

Can someone clear something up for me? A few years ago, didn't Jay announce he was gonna leave/retire? Or did NBC basically, ask him to leave? I thought I had heard other networks showed an interest and that's when NBC changed their mind and decided to keep him. I know I am getting some of the story mixed up here and I could be mistaken, but I thought NBC did to Jay what they are more or less doing to Conan now.
So, what's NBC's plan if Jay comes back to 11:35 and his ratings are terrible? What happens if people are just sick of Jay and NBC and Jay's ratings tank? Does Jay get fired and Conan asked to go back to 11:35? I really hope someone at NBC gets fired for this crap.

Posted: 1/10/10 at 10:58pmI wouldn't fret over any of em. They're all millionaires several times over. Conan said on The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Specia tonightl that he'd take a dollar a year to sit in Spain, drink cheap red wine, and think up mean things for Mr. Burns to say. He may just get that offer.

Romantico. Leno told NBC he wanted to retire. They said OK we will put Conan in your spot and proceeded to do so. Whether or not that is what Jay wanted to hear is up to debate. Perhaps he wanted NBC to beg him to stay and give him more money, perhaps he just changed his mind.
As the time drew near for Jay's retirement he started dragging his feet and making noise that he really didn't want to retire but NBC had Conan's move already in the works and contracts were signed. That is when other networks started sniffing around and NBC got scared thinking they would snatch up Leno and put him head to head with Conan.
Not sure WHY they thought putting him up 5 nights a week at the ten o'clock hour and losing their scripted dramas was a good idea. NBC lost viewership BIG TIME. Seems people started heading to cable for their scripted drama needs.
