And why not.
Ashes to Ashes, Dust do Dust, Hate to Hate
Fred Phelps: Day 1 in HELL!
Good. One of the very few people I am glad about.
As Bette Davis said upon hearing of the death of Joan Crawford: "My mother told me never to speak ill of the dead. Only good. Joan Crawford is dead. GOOD."

I was taught to speak only good of the dead. Fred Phelps is dead. Good.
ETA: Gay Jinx! Thanks, Fred!

Best thing for him, really. His therapy was going nowhere.
And maybe no one will protest at his funeral, because the outside world has class.
Just saw this excellent tweet:
"today's competition is Who Can Be Most Self-Righteously Not Thrilled That Fred Phelps Is Dead"
Reportedly, WBC doesn't believe in worshiping the dead, so they'll be no funeral.
How ironic.
Taz, NO. We're all supposed to wish him well now so we're not "like him".
That's not the point, Jordan, and you know it.
But from what I'm seeing all over the web, I'm not too far off.
It really is like I said in that other thread, people everywhere are now all "Let us not rejoice, but wish our brother Fred peace and may he finally find acceptance in the kingdom of heaven."
BULL to the SH*T. Rejoice that this evil Mother Fvcker is dead! Seriously. It's ok to do that. Throw a party and bash a piñata that looks like him and then piss on it and set it on fire. There's NOTHING wrong with that. One of the most vile and evil figures in our history is dead. GOOD.
I remember this day so well. Overcast and very wet. As the article states it had snowed earlier but was rain by this time. They were able to picket on our grounds because we had a pool that was open to public use and an arboretum that was also open to the public.
The school had asked us to stay away and put buttons that said "Hate is not a Cedar Crest Value" in the student center and student affairs office. I think I still have mine somewhere. I didn't go - I was working off campus at the time and had to go there. Besides, I didn't want to give them the attention they so desparately wanted.
Anti-gay protest at Cedar Crest College kept peaceful
I have complicated and conflicted feelings related to my own reaction to this. I plan to mull it over for a while and then go home and love my husband.
Anytime someone whose sole existence was dedicated to causing others undue pain and anguish is removed from our midst it is a good thing.
Best post I saw on facebook was "Oh, to be a fly on those gates!!!"
He and his fellow monsters came to my area and the press decided to ignore him so he left.
(he had 3 days of protests planned but left the area after one because no one cared).
Still, on his one day here he protested outside of a day school.
A freaking day school! Yelling at little kindergarteners.
These are not the actions of someone who deserves a shred of respect, even in death.
As you reap, so shall you sow.
Good riddance. The man was monster. I am not about to "be the bigger person" and say I hope he finds everlasting peace. The man deserves to rot in hell.
