Even though I think Poltergeist is perfection I am looking forward to the remake on this one.
Also, I thought the TX Chainsaw Remake was way better than the original.
I agree with Adam on that. I REALLY enjoyed the CHAINSAW remake. Besides it being (to me) genuinely scary, I thought it had very solid acting - something you don't get too much of in a slasher film. I think they are much more suspenseful if you can actually somewhat care about the characters you're investing time with. The scene where Biel pushes the knife into her friend who was hanging was VERY moving, I thought. Almost to the point where I started to tear up a bit which has never happened before in a horror movie.
I didn't know anything about a POLTERGEIST remake but it wouldn't surprise me. Hell, wasn't there talk about remaking THE WIZARD OF OZ with Drew Barrymore a few years ago? Nothing is sacred anymore.
This film is dreadful
Its not scary, its not original in anyway, it makes no sense, it looks like its taking the p**s out of the rest of the series, the script is horrid and the acting was painful.
I was really looking forward to this since im a big Friday fan, the original is not that great but it has a campy quality to it with some great effects, i thought to myself "well they cant really mess this remake up, its pretty easy".....i was wrong
There is no lead female character as they should be, the one who you think is the lead female who you are supposed to root for gets killed 10 mins before the end.
The 25 mins at the beginning may as well not be in the film as it has nothing to do with the story (the story begins after 25 mins, and i use the word story loosely).
I was horrified at how bad Marcus Nispel directing was, i thought he did a great job on the Texas Chainsaw Remake, a film which surprised me how good it was, it had a tight script, great directing, brilliant cinematography and a great central performance from Jessica Biel.....this had none of the above.
It is without doubt the worst of the recent remakes ive seen, it even beats the dreadful miss the point remake that was Halloween.
I wish to god Michael Bay and the rest of the hacks at Platinum Dunes would leave A Nightmare On Elm Street alone, that film is perfect, everything about it works perfectly, more so than Halloween, Friday the 13th and TCM, they will mess this one up.
Platinum Dunes are living off the success of the Texas Remake, none of their other films have matched up. Amityville was dull and OTT (Except for a great performance for Ryan), The Hitcher made me want to scream for all the wrong reasons and Texas The Beginning was dreadful
